Richard Ramirez (AKA The Night Stalker, AKA the man who had the single most profoundly negative impact on the life of your SFist editor when he was just a wee lad during the summer of 1985) is a suspect in a 1984 San Francisco homicide, according to CBS 5. "Police said a DNA match identified Ramirez as the suspect."

Ramirez was known for torturing, raping and murdering people in their beds, eventually being convicted of 13 murders that took place between 1984 and 1985 in Southern California. (Your editor might or might not have slept with knife under his pillow two years after his capture.)

SUNDAY / FILLMORE: Two peole are expected to survive a drive-by shooting in the Fillmore district. According to CBS 5, "One person was shot in the thigh and another in the ankle near Eddy and Laguna streets around 8:30 p.m." One suspect, much to our surprise, was arrested. But police are not sure if said detainee is a suspect. Or something like that.

MONDAY / BAYVIEW: Just in time for First Lady Michelle Obama's visit, a man was stabbed to death at around 12:30 a.m. his morning on the 1600 block of La Salle Avenue at Third Street. The victim? Douglas Johnson, 49, of San Francisco. It seems that he was in the passenger seat of a parked car when an unidentified man approached. According to SFGate, "Johnson got out of the car and spoke with the man, who stabbed him in the chest and then ran." He died at the scene. No arrests have been made. This make San Francisco's 21st homicide of the year.

EXAMINER SAYS: "Crime decline is promising, but not conclusive."
