The search for 15-year-old Sierra Lamar, a sophomore at Sobrato High School, continues today. Lamar was last seen on Friday "when she left her home near the intersection of Dougherty and Palm avenues, west of Monterey Highway, according to sheriff's officials. Sierra did not show up for school and was reported missing when she did not come home."

Five teenage boys showed up at school yesterday at Live Oaks High in Morgan Hill wearing American flag t-shirts in order to express their "patriotism" on Cinco de Mayo. The school principal called them all out and told them they were going to have to turn their t-shirts inside out, calling the shirts incendiary, and concerned that they were trying to start a fight with a group of Mexican-American students.

Reports are coming in that there was a mild earthquake felt in San Francisco. We felt it too, but it could have been our the washing machine in the spin cycle. "I believe I just felt a 3-4 point earthquake just now," reports one SFist comments.

Adventures In Babysitting
We must admit we're kind of fascinated, in the bad way, by people who steal babies and pretend the babies are theirs. It intrigues the same part of our brain that reads stories about cat hoarders. This probably says something very bad about us, doesn't it? (On the bright side, none of our friends will ever ask us to baby-or cat-sit for them ever again.)

So sad. The San Leandro police department is on the hunt for one Irving "Gotti" Ramirez of Newark who is suspected of killing a SLPD officer. The officer was responding to a complaint about noisy loiterers when Ramirez and an accomplice allegedly drove up in a Thunderbird and shot him in the head. The officer, a three year veteran, leaves behind a wife and child. The car has been found, but the search for Ramirez continues.
