Drag Star Juanita MORE! Moves Her Pride Party to Dogpatch

Knowing that Bambuddha Lounge was closing (you've heard, right?), drag queen and party promoter Juanita MORE! had to find another place for gays of all stripes to congregate after the Sunday Gay Pride festivities on June 27th this year. "It had to be someplace with great outdoor space," Juanita tells SFist, and for her now famous post-Pride party she finally settled on Kelly's Mission Rock Café, a space better known to the heteros about town. "There's floor to ceiling windows upstairs looking out over the entire Bay, so if it's the tiniest bit chilly it's still going to feel like you're outdoors but you can stay warm." more ›

R.I.P., Mac Dre

Mac Dre, the Vallejo rapper shot in Kansas City last week, was laid to rest yesterday at the Mountain View cemetary in Oakland. Unfortunately, the funeral home, which only seats 100, was not able to accommodate all the members of Mac Dre's family and fans who wanted to pay their final respects, and only family members whose named appeared on the official list were allowed in. more ›

the local chapter of the League is sponsoring an event called 40 Parties in 40 Nights, to keep awareness about the election high in the upcoming few weeks. Party number 1 will be on Sunday the 26th, at Kelly's Mission Rock, and the musical entertainment includes reggae band The People, and DJs Deepcee and Danielle, plus "special guests." No one will be turned away for lack of funds, but they're suggesting a donation of $10-20, which will be used to fund the League's road trips to Reno to lobby undecided voters in the Keep Nevada Blue campaigns. more ›
