Apologies in advance for yet another sordid and tragic story involving the death of an outer-Bay-Area infant, but 25-year-old Livermore resident Jessica Adams has been arrested and charged in the March death of her infant son. Adams rolled over onto her 2-month-old baby while sleeping, following a four-day crystal meth binge in celebration of her birthday.

Mistrial In Case of Meth Heads Who Killed Meth Head Landlord
Some of you may recall the case of two methamphetamine addicts, Richard Carelli and Michele Pinkerton, both now 39, who were accused of murdering of their landlord, Leonard Hoskins, in December 2007. It seems that Hoskins, who also had a history of meth use, had initiated eviction proceedings against the couple, who lived in his garage in-law unit on Mission Terrace. A neighbor witnessed Carelli hit Hoskins over the head with a wooden board and drag him into the garage. His body was found weeks later in the couples' van, which landed in the impound after they had high-tailed it to Baja, where they were arrested last April. Using meth-head logic, they justified their crime because an eviction would have hurt their chances of regaining custody of their daughter.

I Lost Me--and Faith In Drug Awareness Campaigns--to Meth
And speaking of methamphetamines, this above always unleashes a big brouhaha in the bent community: to chastise or not to chastise zippy drug use. The most recent ad campaign--a four-month media blitz produced by the California Methamphetamine Initiative called "Me, Not Meth"--can been seen throughout the city, mainly in the Castro and SOMA arrondisments. And those ads you've seen on TV, featuring men sitting at their desks and talking into webcams? Part of the same ad and directed by Joel Schumacher. SF Aids Foundation has more info here.
Huge Bay Area Meth Ring Bust
Your weekend just got a little sleepier. Ten locations, including two in San Francisco, were busted today in connection with a methamphetamine distribution setup that went from San Francisco and the Bay Area all the way to Mexico. Federal, state, and local law enforcement. In total 13 people were arrested. According to KGO:
