Aubrey Huff's Anxiety Disorder Prompts Local Media Mental Health Disclosures

It was announced yesterday that Aubrey Huff will be placed on the disabled list due to an anxiety disorder, which explains why the first baseman and outfielder suddenly left the Giants. "Obviously, we’re putting Huff on the DL. The reason is, he had an episode of anxiety," Giants Manager Bruce Bochy said. "He's gotten some treatment and he’ll continue to get treatment. He’s going to meet us in San Francisco when we get back, but we can’t keep going short." This morning police found an Oakland woman locked inside her home suffering from a stab wound. It seems the woman was stabbed by her schizophrenic son, who is still at large. Armed Man Threatens to Blow Up Bay Bridge, Doesn't

Around 7:10am during this morning's commute, a heavyset man in a Black SUV called in to the KCBS traffic tipline to alert them to a potential traffic jam: his own vehicle he had pulled over on the westbound deck of the Bay Bridge. According to reports the man explained he was armed and his vehicle was carrying explosives along with his 16-year-old daughter he was holding as a hostage. A negotiator was requested to speak to the man, described by CHP as "truly mentally unstable," as he exited the vehicle and threatened to jump off the bridge. more ›

Gunman Storms Children's Hospital in Oakland

A man is in custody today after storming the Oakland Children's Hospital's emergency room around 3 a.,m. this morning. The unidentified man brandished a gun and took a female hostage before being talked down from the ledge, if you will, by hospital staff. The man, who has no history with the hospital or hostage, was reportedly "speaking gibberish" and kept asking arriving officers not to shoot him.
