It's going to be a far busier-than-normal meeting of the SF County Transportation Authority tomorrow. There's huge stuff on the agenda: updates on the bike plan; millions of dollars being thrown around for the Transbay Terminal; $160,000 for reducing graffiti on street signs; potential changes for Geneva Ave and McAllister Street, including a possible permanent re-route of the 5-Fulton; safety upgrades at 9th and Irving; and some forward momentum for restoring mass transit on Geary to pre-WWII levels. Whew!
Oh, Look, a Government Agency that Actually Does a Pretty Smart Job of Spending Our Money
A Very Special Wednesday SFist Blotter
The suspect, Pierre Ragland, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault, carrying a loaded firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon. Oops. And the victim was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital, and it looks like he's pull through. (And to add insult to injury: "Oh my God, who shot you?" "This guy named Pierre." Ouch.)
Muni's Guide to the Weekend: Alleged "Celebration"
Did you know that the "North of Market Holiday Celebration" is coming up? Neither did we! And neither did the rest of the internet, because there's no mention of the (possibly-fictitious) event anywhere else online. What could it possibly be? We simply couldn't find any information or imagery related to the damn thing; and that's why we decided to run this totally-unrelated picture from a few weeks ago.
Day Around The Bay
--A guy jumped onto the field to say hi to Barry Bonds yesterday. Arrested, drunk. [The Chron photo pool, the Snitch.]
Gettin' Wild at The Civic Center, Trimethyldioxypurist-style
Jury duty. Ack. While we won't get into the specifics behind our general reluctance in doing our civic duty, we were glad for the opportunity to revisit one of our favorite coffee joints -- Wild Awakenings, 142 McAllister Street, right behind U.N. Plaza. This used to be our daily spot when we worked around here; we hadn't been since about August 2003.
