Behold the 12th Annual Alcatraz Invitational Swim that took place this past weekend, and Matt Cohen captured all of the cold, wet, criminally-insane athletic activity.

The Pride Parade is one of the best photo-ops of the year, isn't it? The yearly celebration gives us an opportunity to step back, examine ourselves, and then breathe with relief, "yup, still gay."

Shanghaiist probably knows a little more about China than the Chicago Sun-Times. Giving them the benefit of the doubt on that one. The city does to have a music scene. Don't even front like they don't. They also have Dorito bananas and white guys shopping for wives. What they don't have is any more tolerance for jaywalkers.

It warms our red hearts to see workers marching here at home and around the world on International Workers' Day, otherwise known as May Day. Here in the United States, the marches were to protest changes to immigration laws, and coincided with many businesses shuttering their doors as immigrant workers walked off their jobs. Marches were also held in solidarity with immigrants across the border in Mexico, where they celebrated "Un Dia Sin Gringos."

Well, Randy Shaw apparently got the news that the Gavster's strategists are looking into the possibility of running for the Democratic nomination for the gubenatorial race next year. He writes in Beyond Chron:

So how do we balance our fawning coverage of Matt Gonzalez' birthday? Why, unintentionally hilarious pictures of Gavin, of course! Matt over at 1115.org dropped by Blue Bottle Coffee, followed the sound of drums, and found the Gavster enthusiastically participating in a ground breaking ceremony on Octavia. Add a new camera and some black-and-white film into the mix, and you have the recipe for Flickr candy.

SFist was kind of ambivalent about blogging when we first heard about it a few years ago. Either way, the voices in the blogosphere at the turn of the century didn't resonate with us.
