Remember Livermore mom Christine Hubbs who was arrested last summer on charges that she liked 13-year-old boys a little too much? She pleaded no contest yesterday in Alameda County Superior Court, and she's expected to serve five years in jail and to have to register as a sex offender. In exchange for her plea, prosecutors dropped 63 other felony sex counts and a few misdemeanor counts. That's quite a lot of counts! Sounds like this wasn't a one-time deal.
Livermore Molester Lady Pleads No Contest to Charges of Sex With Teenage Boys
Man Takes Taxi to Freeway Overpass In Livermore, Jumps Off
This is a gruesome and sad tale: A man in his 30s or 40s took a taxi at 9:30 Saturday morning to a freeway overpass along I-580 at Airway Boulevard in Livermore, made the cab stop, got out, went over to the guardrail, sat on it facing the road below, leaned forward, and dropped off to his death. The CHP subsequently shut down two lanes of 580 for about two hours. Police are still looking for the cab company and driver, who has not come forward. [Bay City News/Tribune]
Alleged Molestor Livermore Mom Scheduled to Appear in Court Today
A Livermore mother of three is scheduled to enter a plea today in Pleasanton in connection with charges of 67 counts of sexual assault committed against two teenage boys over the course of two years. Christine Shreeve Hubbs is accused of luring two boys, ages 13 and 14 at the time of the first incident, into her clutches by buying them dinners, Xboxes, video games, and sending nude photos of herself to their phones. She then allegedly got the boys to perform sexual acts with her. A parent of one of the boys saw one of the photos and alerted police.
Watch Out for Student Driver
Every student driver's worst nightmare: 20-year-old Livermore driver, Farhat Mohammad, plowed into six pedestrians on Saturday night while learning how to drive. According to The Chronicle, Mohammad "was apparently traveling west on Wetmore Road in a Honda Civic just before 8 p.m. and made a left turn onto Vallecitos Road, where she struck the six adults in the crosswalk." Three of the victims were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Meth-Head Mom Charged In Infant's Death
Apologies in advance for yet another sordid and tragic story involving the death of an outer-Bay-Area infant, but 25-year-old Livermore resident Jessica Adams has been arrested and charged in the March death of her infant son. Adams rolled over onto her 2-month-old baby while sleeping, following a four-day crystal meth binge in celebration of her birthday.
ABC 7's Dan Noyes Receives Murder-Suicide Note
Yesterday, if you recall, SFist told you about 64-year-old Yvette Harden, the East Bay women who "fatally shot her handicapped daughter at an East Oakland skilled nursing facility Sunday night then killed herself with the same gun."
MC Hammer's Cousin Arrested for Rape
Marvin Grant (Bigg Marv), MC Hammer's cousin, was arrested late afternoon on Thursday after a manhunt. The reality TV supporting player is accused of raping a woman he met via Twitter in Livermore. According to CBS 5's Joe Vasquez, "The woman, who is from Los Angeles, arranged to meet [Tuesday] night at a hotel in Livermore after Grant returned from a shoot in Las Vegas." The victim, after declining his advances post-suppertime, was allegedly attacked by Grant. At a press conference, Lt. Matt Sarsfield of the Livermore Police Department said, "He's about 300 pounds, and was able to pin her down and keep one of her arms down while he sexually assaulted her." MC Hammer's camp has since bailed him out of jail.
Oh Lord, Won't You Buy Us a Geodesic Dome?
SFist commenter jacksevanroo's facetious reference to buying a geodesic dome in response to Larry Ellison's questionable tax break on his "functionally obsolete" compound, reminded us about this Silicon Valley geodesic dome home ("Brigadome") that went up for sale last month. If we could buy it, we would -- hippie stigma be damned! (Buckminster Fuller was the most under-rated genius of the 20th century, as far as we're concerned.)
