Conservative talk radio host and general bag of wind Glenn Beck is not happy with our local denim maker's revolutionary new ad campaign. For Beck, the latest Levi's "Go Forth" TV spot, which features images of denim-clad youth engaging in riots (and also closeups of their butts), is leaning way to far to the left for his taste.

Alice Waters Would Like to Dress You For School, Pack You a Boxed Lunch
Edible Schoolteacher Alice Waters is a charitable person, we know this because she selflessly runs her high-end locavore restaurant as a cover for her secret agenda of sneaking vegetables in to every elementary school playground in the country. She's practically the Mother Teresa of organic vegetables. Now, in some sort of play to become even more Jesus-like, she's going to clothe us as well. In a t-shirt.
Levi's, Maybe Twitter HQ to Become Tourist Attractions?
San Franciscans may be anti-corporate in their politics, but the nation's tourists who visit here just might be fascinated enough with our brands to make them stops on their sight-seeing trips. That's what San Francisco Travel hopes anyway, and they're looking to make Levi's Plaza more of a tourist destination, as well as other corporate headquarters associated with the city.
Levi's Markets Dockers On Valencia Street Using Sidewalk Graffiti
Allan Hough at Mission Mission broke some startling fashion marketing news today: Levi's made a return to Valencia Street to pimp "their Dockers brand via some ugly typography and a Facebook URL." What's more, they're doing it with nasty sidewalk graffiti.
Fashion Feud: Levi's Suing Dolce & Gabbana
"Girl, hold my earrings," said San Francisco-based Levi's who filed a lawsuit in federal court in San Francisco last week against Dolce & Gabbana. It seems, according to SF Weekly, the Italian house breached a 1998 settlement agreement between the two companies. Over what? Over pocket stitching. D&G has allegedly copied Levi's "double-arch stitching design and ribbon tab on the back pocket."
The Levi's Thing on Valencia: Not As Shill-y as You Think
So, the new Levi's pop-up thing (they're reluctant to call it a 'store,' and it's kind of not) in the former Slanted Door location on Valencia Street between 16th and 17th, is an interesting phenomenon. While on the one hand, cynics may want to see it as a simple branding exercise, it appears to be more than that, and presents an example of a retailer trying to do something creative and altruistic for an urban community, while still selling a few pairs of jeans.
