From the Usual Suspects, we found a link to a story about Doughgate (we like that one) in the Yale Daily News. As you might as well imagine, it's a big story over there. Anyways, it’s an interesting read as it gives you an idea how it's seen over there in Ivy League Land. Among other things, they have no idea about all the inside San Francisco stuff, like the high schools involved or who the people who hosted the party were. To them it's just a straight forward assault and battery.
The Yale Choral Group Story At Yale
The Yale Choir Story, Again
There's two interesting components to this story that's getting a bit of play. One of them is the failure to arrest anyone and weird things about how it was handled. The other one is the people involved. This being a small city, there's not anything that doesn't happen in the city without someone of note being involved.
New Year's Bash
According to eyewitnesses, the 19-year-old son of the staggeringly wealthy local physician Eileen Aicardi spent it by gathering a mob of friends and then gaybashing an all-male singing group from Yale. When the assault was over, there were bruises, cuts, sprains, and facial reconstruction surgery requiring the wiring shut of the victim's jaw and the insertion of titanium plates. Oh, and also, the police are launching an investigation ... into why the SFPD didn't care.
