Well, this stinks: A woman in her 30s was hit by a garbage truck this morning. SF Appeal reports, "the woman was hit while walking in a crosswalk across Presidio Avenue at Pine Street in the Laurel Heights area at about 8:05 a.m." The truck was turning onto Presidio Avenue from Pine Street,a nd the driver was not arrested. The accident victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. more ›

Rebecca Stead will be reading from her young adult novel When You Reach Me, which was named a NYT Notable Book of 2009, and Publishers Weekly's Best Children's Book of 2009.
