Five people were shot at a nightclub in San Jose early Sunday morning as R&B singer Chris Brown performed onstage. The singer was not hurt, and the five victims shot are all expected to survive, authorities say.

Chris Brown was at the Fiesta nightclub, near the intersection of Monterey Road and Rancho Drive in San Jose, for an event known as the Capricorn Bash when shots were fired around 1:20 a.m. Police arrived to find four gunshot victims, who were then rushed to a hospital. A fifth victim, according to the San Jose Mercury News, later walked into a hospital on their own.

Police have detained "several people" in connection with the shooting, but have not released many details otherwise.

Video taken by people in the audience shows Brown onstage with his entourage performing his song "Loyal" when he notices and remarks on a fight breaking out in the crowd. Shots ring out, and in the commotion he can be seen being swarmed by bodyguards.

After the shooting, Brown tweeted "I'm 100" to say he was unharmed. The tweet has since been deleted.

The incident allegedly began as a fist fight which spilled out of the venue on to Van Ness, and ended with gun shots fired. As of this writing there's no word as to whether any passersby were injured, but according to ABC 7 none of the shooting victims were gravely injured. Sidenote: There was a wedding reception going on in the Masonic temple space on the top floor of the building at the time of the shooting, which was unfortunately interrupted by the sound of gun shots.

Update: Reports this morning say that <s>nine</s> eight people were shot and wounded outside the Regency Ballroom. "All of the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries," notes SF Chronicle.

While we typically roll our eyes at comments and opinions that call for the death of people who do stupid things, this is one case we might consider. You see, two ladies who took turns beating Oakland resident Melissa Seals last month called KMEL to brag about it. After taking turns brutally beating Seals at her Oakland salon and videotaping the entire thing, because Seals' ex-boyfriend allegedly asked them to do so, the two mental giants went on-air and had the following conversation. Ahem:

Sana G (KMEL DJ): "Which one was the one doing the karate kicks to the face? Was that you?"

Caller #1: "Right here, this my sister."

Caller #2: "... that was me, man. That b---- deserved everything they got, that she got. And if you would have been there and on the situation, you would have respected it."

According to ABC 7 (who has raw footage of said beatdown), the "respected" decision to beat the woman came about after Seals had the gall to talk about what whores they were to salon clients and their family.
