So many recalls afoot these days, we're starting a new column! Today's recall news: a reader passed along these pictures of today's rather-sparsely attended Recall Peskin rally on the steps of City Hall. Looks like they got about a quarter of the 40 folks who signed the Peskin recall petition in the first place -- and it looks like we're the only people who even have news of the event up anywhere online.

Our new favorite trivial pursuit is police radio codes and according to APCO (that's the Association of Public-Safety Communication Officials), 10-16 means "domestic trouble." So, to avoid any domestic trouble, we're heading on over to ATA (992 Valencia @ 21st) to check out the Free Form Film Festival program OUT2, a series of "outsider" shorts about the holidays. High kitsch factor alert! The screening will be followed by a performance by Sabreteeth, who will hyphenatedly overwhelm us in a good way with Metal-Punk-No-wave-Jazz-Funk-Noise-Junk. (8pm)

And the second in our school board interviews -- Kim Knox! Knox is currently a member of the local SF Green Party County Council, and blogs with Robert Haaland and Sasha Magee at Left in SF.

Man, here we are all nostalgic listening to Endtroducing, and the blogosphere pays us back with some serious synchronicity -- all sorts of funky-fresh music! We're totally drooling over this new Soul Sides compilation from O-Dub, on vinyl no less! Kid Kameleon posts not one, not two, but three mixes from three different DJs, including one of his own. Mesh SF presents a "motherlode" of the 40oz. show. And while this is kinda old, we were reminded by Jason Schulz that Podbop will let you sample lots of bands that happen to be in town.

Summertime of Poverty pens a lyrical reflection on the modern world, but the title says it all. On that note, Ron Gonzalez gives a final state-of-San Jose speech, and San Jose Inside readers take the opportunity to lament his tenure. Up north, Michelle Slatalla plays with new real estate tool Zillow, but while intrigued, is not impressed by the inaccurate data.

Beth Spotswood pops ten questions for Gavin Newsom, and we want answers. Speaking of interviews, Shout Magazine raps with local MC Paris. And a crop of top local writers weigh in on the JT Leroy fracas, including Thomas Roche, Mark Pritchard and our own SFist Violet.

Kim Knox at Left in SF provides a handy listing of schools on the block for mergers and closures, and the board has decided to shut dow n the elementary school on Treasure Island. Looks like The City won't be able to provide any sort of internet connection to the public at Monday's scheduled public hearing on TechConnect. Maybe one of you has a brand new 3G modem?
