In the "Lengths Writers Will Go To Promote A Book" department, Tom Dolby, author of The Trouble Boy, submitted to an SFist grilling. And by grilling we mean a nice, spicy rub-down followed by a slow, low-temperature smoke. Because Tom is a native of The City, and successful in New York, so we can't really be all that hard on him.

It's good to be a nerd. At least that's how SFist feels after hanging out at the Swedish American Hall, taking full advantage of the open bar, nodding our head to the DJ's beats, nibbling on tidbits from the trays of finger food and stuffing our bag with schwag at the Creative Commons party last night. Intellectual property lawyers sure know how to party!

Many of us here at SFist rode the crest of the dot.com bomb to the very, very bottom. Very few of us managed to come to the Bay at the bottom and then climb up. Contributor Kevin Smokler is one of those lucky folks who after a stint at a video store ran into an acquaintance from elementary school and landed a new job. He is currently working on anthology of essays. Oh, and for those of you from the Midwest, his cat's name is Faygo.
