The last time we saw The Who, we were fairly certain we were witnessing a farewell tour. The ebullient and explosive Keith Moon was already dead, replaced by serviceable former Small Face, Kenney Jones. John Entwistle was rock steady but looked a little bored. Roger Daltrey was on the verge of developing a bit too much paunch for his iconic shirtlessness. And Pete Townshend was already experiencing symptoms of his potentially career-ending tinnitus.
