Fans of the San Francisco 49ers won't be able to purchase tickets this morning to Sunday's NFC Championship game in Seattle against the Seahawks because the team is barring ticket sales to fans with billing addresses in California. Kind of tacky, no?

As Sports Illustrated is reporting, both the Seahawks and the Denver Broncos are setting geographic limits on ticket sales for these all-important championship games. The Seahawks announced that only fans with billing addresses in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii, British Columbia, and Alberta can buy tickets on their website starting at 10 a.m. today for the game on January 19. Meanwhile the Broncos are only selling tickets to their game against the New England Patriots to those in the "Rocky Mountain region," including Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, South Dakota, and Western Kansas.

So, die-hard Niners fans will have to rely on a friend with a credit card in Portland or Honolulu to buy them a ticket. Or spend larger amounts buying from Ticketmaster or another reseller, neither of which care where you're from. Nosebleed seats are starting at $440 right now.

Seriously though, Hawaii? Not California, but Hawaii?? It seems like a pretty shitty move on the part of the Seahawks, who have lost only one game at home so far this season. (Get ready to lose another!) And as sports commentators have been saying a lot lately, the 49ers-Seahawks rivalry is one of the most heated in football today, with these latest ticket-selling shenanigans only adding to the fire.

Hopefully we will crush them on Sunday and be in the Super Bowl and this will all just be a funny memory soon.
