SFist Tonight
SFist Has a Cure For Your Bad Case of the Mondays
Somebody out there took Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" and mashed it up with scenes from the old "Star Trek" (otherwise known as the Only "Star Trek") and came up with this psychadelic video.
Wednesdays, The New Wednesdays
Om, shanti, shanti, shanti, Wednesday..... Tonight: After you visit Stephen Colbert's adopted eaglet Stephen Jr. at the SF Zoo, stop by the zoo's Great Hall for a talk by the Gilman Int'l Conservation Foundation, about their efforts to save the okapi. The okapi is an endandered zebra/giraffe-y-like African eland whose pleasing combination of vowels and consonants gives it a place of honor in the hearts of obsessive crossword puzzlers like ourselves. Reception at 6:30, talk at 7.
Bummer, Dude
After thirty-five years, Alameda County sheriff's investigators have finally closed the murder of Meredith Hunter at the Rolling Stones' Altamont concert 35 years ago. Apparently, they’ve been looking for the semi-mythical "second knifeman" for the past thirty-five years only to come up with nothing. Which just goes to show you that shouldn't necessarily base a murder investigation on the testimony of thousands of people on brown acid.
When The Lights Go Down In The City
We've already broken our New Year's resolution to not be late anymore, but we can still rally to see more live music in '05. Things remain a bit askew during this first week of January (holiday parties are still happening?) but there are many musical options if you need to get out and about. Or as those kooky Canadians like to say, oot and aboot.
