Nothing makes us feel more like a big pervy loser than standing in line for a porn movie. On a Friday night. Alone. In the rain. Wearing a trench coat no less.

We've been doing far too much reading about relevance and contemporary classical music as of late, so we're looking forward to the opportunity to hear it in a nice room with other people. The SF Tape Music Festival going on all weekend at ODC Theater (3153 17th St at Shotwell) features three distinct programs of audio art over a pristine 16-speaker surround sound system. We like the mix of legends (Brian Eno, with a world premiere, Gyorgy Ligeti and James Tenney, both recently deceased) and locals (Cliff Caruthers, George Cremaschi, Mary Clare Brzytwa, and more). We're positively reeling from anticipation of all the fun and excitement promised by this weekend's events. Not since we spent Halloween weekend in Las Vegas a few years back have we done so much reeling - though that was mostly due to our alcohol consumption and our difficulty finding an exit out of the New York New York casino.

We can't count the number of times we've left a movie announcing "That sucked! This is what they should have done..." And then we'd go on in great detail to our long suffering better half, who had to sit through both the flawed work AND our backseat screenwriting and direction.

, we will be there in full force to bring you the best of the fest.

After a long day of internet shenanigans, sometimes it's nice to see things from a different, more youthful perspective, like that in tomorrow's ALIVE @ 9th Street event. Entitled "The Digital Generation", it's "an examination of blogging, podcasting, streaming video, and other digital media in filmmaking strategy".

The kids at the San Francisco Independent Film Festival are already gearing up for IndieFest 2006, planed for February 2-14 (mark your calendars now!). This Friday they're having another of their trademark events, the Rock N Roll Horror Show, at the 1751 Social Club (1751 Fulton at Masonic).

Have you ever been in the 9th Street Independent Film Center? We feel arty just walking in there, even before we visit the offices of the many local independent film organizations housed there.

We don't mean to alarm you, San Francisco, but it may be time to start looking for a new logo for the SF Independent Film Fesival. Our old familiar sunburst-style friend was last seen dangling precariously from an unidentified architectural gimmick, threatening to jump (as illustrated to the left, in what might charitably be described as an "artist's" rendition).
