This photo on Curbed seriously made our afternoon. Apparently, a long-time Curbed lurker discovered this rooftop streamliner while doing a building inspection for a housing project in the Tenderloin. Blogger 40Goingon28 confirms it's located at the 100 block of Turk Street. Another Curbed commenter speculates that "All you need is an airsteam and a crane" to pull off this feat. Floating Head About Town, Enjoying a Smoke

UPDATE: The artist is Hugh Leeman, and he'll be showing his work at White Walls on August 8th.

We've seen this floating head, which is likely a portrait of Lee Scratch Perry (thanks, Manys!), in a couple of places lately. The first time it was in an abandoned storefront in the Nob Hill area, and it was so well-placed, we thought it was supposed to be there. Then we saw it again last night on Market near Van Ness and realized it was a theme of some sort.

Stockton Residents Gather to Witness Image of Michael Jackson on a Tree Stump

Apparently, the image of Michael Jackson appeared on a Stockton tree stump, pictured at right, the day the pop icon passed away, and crowds have begun to gather ever since. Owner of the tree stump, Felix Garcia, has lived on the property for 22 years and had never seen MJ's image until now. Jackson once visited Stockton twenty years ago to comfort the community after a school shooting. "To Stockton, Michael Jackson meant more to us than Jesus... I think they're both about even," said one resident. Personally, we think the image looks more like Gene Simmons in full KISS make-up. [Via D-Listed, the Awl, CBS13]

OMG! It's the Nicole Ritchie of laptops! (Ritchie before she got fat and pregnant, that is.)

It seems that the new MacBook Air, just unveiled a few hours ago, features multi-touch ability on its oversized trackpad, similar to that of the iPhone; some sort of crazy wirelessness; recyclable aluminum case; a mercury and lead free display; and you can buy the thing in two weeks, starting at around $1799. One more thing, in cahoots with Touchstone, Miramax, LionsGate, Fox, Warners Brothers, Walt Disney, Paramount, Universal and Sony, Jobs also introduced iTunes Movie Rentals.
