On Thursday night, a crowd of more than 500 checked out the second annual Drag Queens on Ice at the ice rink in Union Square. Performances from Mutha Chucka, Anna Conda, and Lil Miss Hot Mess warmed the chilly night. Here are some photos of the ladies working the crisp stage.

Scenes from the LEGO Santa Yoda Construction in Union Square
In Union Square today, a 12-foot tall by 10-foot wide Santa Yoda made entirely out of LEGO bricks is underway. Here are some scenes of the Yoda erection (ew) in progress. As of this afternoon,wWe've got shots of the mini Yoda in various poses including but not limited to a dangerous yet thrilling ride atop the Zamboni. We'll update throughout the day with new, vibrant, jolly pics of Santa Yoda as it gets bigger and better.
Drag Queens On Ice: A Gallery
A troupe of about fifty assorted drag queens, gays, lesbians and others took the Union Square ice rink by storm yesterday -- all in the midst of the afternoon storminess that included a few minutes of hail. Organizers Beth Amphetamine (pictured here) and Vivvyanne ForeverMore (of Tiara Sensation) hoped this could be a fun and educational experience for the holiday shoppers and families gathered for wintertime skating, and by all accounts a good time was had by all. In fact, one little girl, aged approximately 7, was overheard as she skated by telling her dad, "This is the best day of my whole life!!"
Holiday Ice Rink Open Today
Although it's still rather warm outside, the Holiday Ice Rink at Union Square officially opened this morning. SF Appeal/Bay City News informed us that a snow machine will drop snow on the rink throughout the day, and members of the national figure skating team will be performing at 5 p.m. today. Apparently they also performed at Noon as well. Did anyone see the show?
