Here we were, worried that this whole Congressman Mark "NAMBLA" Foley story wouldn't have any sort of Bay Area connection so we wouldn't be able to comment on it, but we were wrong. When your representative to Congress is the House Minority Leader, there's a connection to anything in politics. And there is a connection indeed to this story. ...

We saw this on Wonkette today and it had us wondering what is going on here. Is this one of Nancy's attempts to try and reach out to the Red State NASCAR voter? You know, just to show that she's not some scary Liberal Dem from San Francisco. Like, we're so down with you, we even have trucker hats you can buy! We know you guys love Trucker Hats! ...

Well, our little congresswoman made a stirring come-from-behind comeback victory yesterday and overtook Cynthia McKinney in Wonkette's "Congressional Catfight." We hope it was our valued readers who helped take the prize for ole' Nance. But that's not the real big news today. The big news is that Nancy has come out and said that basically, that whole impeachment thing everyone's all dreaming about these days if the Democrats take over the House? Ain't gonna happen. It's "off the table." ...

We San Franciscan's like to think that we come from a brave and hearty stock. Constantly living under the fear of the next Big One, we're the inheritors of a proud tradition of frontiersmen, sailors, miners, and hookers- the whole "Deadwood" c----sucking crowd. Which is why were a bit chagrined to read how our congresswoman, our representative as it were, handled the emergency evacuation of Capitol Hill yesterday. According to the Washington Post (via a tip by Wonkette), Nancy Pelosi was so encumbered by her "pinkish" high-heels that the Capitol police had to lift her out of them so they could evacuate her, causing the House Minority Leader to lose one of her heels. Luckily, shoe and congresswoman were soon reunited, which we don't think we can say about Nancy and her dignity. We also can't but help sigh over how it looks that the leader of a party commonly depicted as being nothing but a bunch spinelessness, brie-eating, elitists, had to be carried out by the police due to their fashionable shoes. After all, could you imagine Dick Cheney being carried out because of his shoes? Tom DeLay? Dennis Hastert? Sadly, we think not. ...

For those of you wondering why BART has been almost MUNI-like, it's because of a that's throwing everything off. Due to that little glitch, switching equipment is malfunctioning somewhere between Colma and Millbrae and the result is a stopped BART. In order to fix the problem when it occurs, BART drivers have to get out of the train, walk up the tracks and manually switch the thing themselves. The result of the little software problem has been delays up and down the line as trains have been held up anywhere from a few minutes to a full hour. SFist can fully vouch for the problems as we've missed our connections at Millbrae twice in the past week and the only thing that's kept us from having a severe case of Pub Trans Rage is memories of the N Judah....

DCist forwarded us an article from Roll Call (paid subscription required) entitled "Q: Where Is Nancy Pelosi Not a San Francisco Liberal? A: San Francisco." We love it when DC politics realizes that, like, there's a whole country out there! Really! And it's full of constituents! Not all of whom like their elected representatives! Of course, this information is basically a re-hash of the same arguments surrounding her accension to House Minority Leader. San......

While Dems accross the country swoon for the handsome Barack Obama and John Edwards, San Franciscans had a lot to be proud of - being the bluest town in the bluest state in the union. SFist thought that House Minority Leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi [D-San Francisco] gave a great speech [RealPlayer, from C-Span], even if she did pull a few punches. And Da Mayor, Gavin Newsome, was fetted all week as a rising star in the party....
