Or rather lucite? That's right, home town hero Hott Lixx Hulahan won the Air Guitar World Championships in Finland last week. For once, a victory on the international stage unmarred by accusations of doping, and underage-ness. Even the NY Times is celebrating. Congrats Hot Lixx!

What with Paris Hilton's release earlier this week and the upcoming celebration of American Independence (sorry, Londonist!), we've been thinking a lot about freedom. Freedom to vote, freedom to choose, and most importantly, freedom to blog. Here are a few things we're happy we've been free to blog about this week.
SFist interviews Craig Billmeier aka Hot Lixx Hulahan, US air guitar champion.
What is it with Americans going oversees and losing in sports that should be ours? First it was our soccer team, then our basketball team, and now this-- Alameda's very own Craig "Hot Lixx Hulahan" Billmeier came in sixth at the Championship 2006 in Oulu, Finland Sept. 8. The first place winner was Japan's Ochi "Dainoji" Yosuke who dazzled the audience with his air guitar prowess on Jet's "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" (see the video above).
