• A 29-year-old San Francisco woman was arrested after allegedly pulling the tail of a horse during a child's riding lesson at Thornton Beach Recreation Area in Daly City, causing the child to be thrown off. The woman was charged with suspicion of felony child endangerment and booked into San Mateo County Main Jail in Redwood City. [NBC Bay Area]
• The saga involving the Antioch Police Department continues with an upcoming federal criminal trial of two former Antioch police officers who were charged with conspiring to repeatedly use excessive force against suspects and destructing, altering, or falsifying an arrest record. The pair reportedly often made racist comments about the suspects they were targeting. [KQED]
• Police uncovered "thousands of child sexual abuse material in various forms" from the home of Michael Ross, who's currently out on bail, a 67-year-old man who's worked as a substitute teacher and tutor throughout San Mateo County. [KRON4]
• Berkeley police are searching for missing 12-year-old, Princeugene Rockwell, who was last seen at 3 p.m. Saturday, possibly heading to San Pablo Park. [SFGate]
• Classes at a Rohnert Park elementary school in Sonoma County were canceled today after vandals broke into the school and caused extensive damage; they're set to resume on Tuesday. [CBS News]

• While donning a "Make America Goth Again" hat, Cassandra Peterson, also known as Elvira Mistress of the Dark, donated her Tesla to NPR over the weekend. Peterson had previously painted “Elon Sux” on the Tesla. [Yahoo News]

A horse seeking a cool drink of water at Lake Sonoma earlier this week got him or herself stuck in some quicksand-like mud, and required a rescue by the Sonoma Sheriff's Office Marine Unit.

The horse was with a second horse and two human riders, apparently, and it looks like they may have been picnicking in the shade nearby when the horse got themselves into trouble.

The horse got stuck at least knee deep, if not higher, in the mud, and the team used ropes to help pull the big guy/gal out. A large animal team had been dispatched to the scene but was called off after the Sheriff's Office team got the horse unstuck.

Thankfully, the horse was not injured, and got to continue on about the day.

Think about the dumbest, most embarrassing thing that you ever did while trying to attract the attention of a romantic/sexual partner. Whatever it was, it pales (I hope, for your sake) compared to the plight of Shadow, a 30-year-old female Palomino/Appaloosa horse who needed the help of Sacramento Metropolitan firefighters Wednesday after a dance intended to attract a romantic partner ended with her stuck in a bathtub.

Shadow's owner, Charles Campbell, says that despite her advanced age, Shadow was "in heat" and was "checking out a potential mate" when she lost her balance and fell into a bathtub she typically uses as a food trough, with her legs stuck into the air.

Once in, she was unable to get out.

The Campbells called Sacramento Metro Fire, and emergency responders were able to extract the horse from the tub, as you can see from the below video Metro Fire posted to Facebook. Don't worry! She's fine.

Shadow's lascivious state resulted in her getting a bit too "frisky," Campbell says. "It's getting a little too close to Valentine's Day."

The target of Shadow's attentions remained unidentified at publication time.

Oh this is rich. It seems a scared horse attached to a carriage, which is mean and unnecessary in this post-industrialized era of ours, went on a rampage through North Beach and The Embarcadero, "hospitalizing its handler and knocking at least two people off bicycles," according to SF Examiner. The incident, happening around 6 p.m. on Saturday, occurred as "the horse was being prepared for work when it was apparently spooked." The frightening horse, according to SFPD, also 'knocked down its handler and trampled over him." Yikes. Then, after that, the equine darted down The Embarcadero, "tracing a course through Fisherman's Wharf and North Beach, before finally being corralled by a Good Samaritan." But the horse's will proved too strong, because it busted free and galloped down The Embarcadero, "knocking down at least two bicyclists." Finally, two bystanders managed to subdue to horse, who has since been taken to a veterinarian in Novato. And as Eye On Blogs, Brittney Gilbert pointed out today, "Maybe horses don't want to pull buggies in urban areas." Word.
