A hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a 55-year-old man at Masonic and Turk last night. The Chronicle reports: "The series of crashes began at about 2:30 a.m. when the suspect, Jose Jimenez, 23, of San Francisco, ran down a 55-year-old man crossing Masonic Avenue at Turk Boulevard." Jimenez was allegedly drunk at the time of the crash. This is the second time in less than a year that a car accident claimed a life at the notorious intersection. Last August, German tourist Nils Linke, 21, was killed at Masonic and Turk by a hit-and-run incident.

Witnesses Sought After Lower Haight Cycling Hit and Run
In bike safety news: a cyclist in the Lower Haight was the victim of car-on-bike hit and run incident this past weekend. The rider was allegedly cut off by and then collided with a champagne sedan (champagne in color, we assume) near the intersection of Duboce Ave and Belcher while pedaling along the Wiggle around 10 a.m. Saturday morning. Mid-Market Hit and Run Kills Man
On Saturday night, a 51-year-old man was found lying in the street near Eighth and Market after an apparent hit-and-run incident. The man was struck a little before 9:30 p.m. The medical examiner's office has identified the victims as David Henderson.

Oakland Man Charged In S.F. Bicyclist Hit & Run Death
Today, prosecutors charged Oakland resident Joshua Calder, 36, with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated after an alleged hit-and-run crash on Friday night. He is accused of killing 21-year-old Nils Linke at Masonic and Turk. Calder, as many of you know, "allegedly drove away from the scene afterward." [CBS 5]
Another German Tourist Killed Last Week
Just a few days after German tourist Mechthild Schroeer was killed by stray gunfire near Union Square, 21-year-old Nils Linke, who was also a tourist from Germany, was struck and killed on his bike on Masonic Avenue near Turk on Friday night. The driver fled the scene, but police were able to track him down thanks to eye witness descriptions.

An early morning accident (?) rattled Hayes Valley after a hit and run killed "an African American man of 40 years of age" on Octavia between Market and Haight. AP (via CBS 5) notes: "The body of the victim was found on Octavia Street between Market and Haight streets. A shoe and a skateboard were found nearby." SFGate, however, points out, "Police do not know if he was the victim of a hit-and-run crash, a homicide or something else, " The area is now open to traffic.
Crazed Teen Driver Crashes Car 3 Times Before Getting Arrested
An unlicensed 19-year-old driver was arrested for felony hit and run yesterday after trying to flee from cops after being pulled over in the Oceanview neighborhood. Within a minute the kid had driven up on the sidewalk, smashed into a parked car, smashed into a moving vehicle on Orizaba Ave. containing two women and a child, and then came to a final smashing halt on the median near Arch Street on Brotherhood Way. Everyone but the child suffered minor injuries, including the crazed teen. And why couldn't he score a license yet? He seems so stable and responsible. (UPDATED) Redwood City Cyclist Killed In Hit-And-Run
A woman riding her bike this morning was stuck and killed by a dump truck in Redwood City. According to KTVU, the accident, reported at "7:51 a.m. at the intersection of Shoreway Road and Holly Street," was of the hit-and-run variety. Redwood City police Sgt. Kathy Anderson said "it appears that the driver may not even be aware that he struck anyone." Also, the cyclist died at the scene.
Update on Tandem Bike Hit and Run
Streetsblog SF reported today that SFPD has issued a rare press release for the hit and run involving cyclist Andrew Bennett and his 4-year-old son while riding a bike with a tandem extension, which occurred at 18th and Valencia on July 1st. Bennett fractured his spine, but his son was not injured.

Two Drivers Sought in Deadly Richmond Hit and Run
Good grief, what is going on in the city of Richmond? First, some pigs gang rape a woman because she had a rainbow flag stick affixed to the back of her car. Then, on Saturday at around 6 p.m., a female cyclist was hit twice by two separate vehicles. Laura Casey, 49, was riding her bike when "a white, four-door sedan rear-ended her," knocking her to the ground. As Casey screamed for help, according to reports, she was fatally "struck by a second vehicle, which dragged her 25 feet, then drove away." Market Street Hit-Run Injures Cyclist, Kills Dog
A little before midnight on Sunday, at the notoriously dangerous Octavia and Market Street intersection, a driver plowed into a 27-year-old bicyclist, injuring her and killing her dog "who was either being carried or riding in a bike basket," according to San Francisco police Sgt. Neville Gittens.

Oh No, Chris Kavanaugh! Berkeley's own Ed Jew, a Green Party member of the Berkeley rent board who was actually living (and litigating with his landlord) in Oakland, pled not guilty to three charges of voter fraud, one charge of perjury, and one of grand theft (for taking a stipend from the Berkeley rent board) yesterday. Kavanaugh spent Friday night living in the Santa Rita jail before being released on $30,000 bond, and will report back to court on Oct. 26. Kavanaugh has reportedly told other board members that he lives in Berkeley but his girlfriend lives in Oakland.

Man, if you want to go drag-racing, don't kill members of a royal family -- the 18-year-old suspect burst into tears after a judge in San Mateo County refused to lower her bail from $3 million. The DA was unmoved, saying, "Highway 101 is not a video game and it's not a racetrack." That's right -- that's what 280 is.
