type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"> We decided not to post your picture because we've seen enough of y'all to last a lifetime. Here's Gwen Stefani's video for "Sweet Escape" instead. As our blog hero, Perez Hilton, once said: "Jesus, get over yourselves...you're not even the poor man's TomKat!" ...

current.gifThanks, SFist Eve, for covering the Weeklies in our absence! Back on Weeklies duty, just in time for the New Year! Now, who did SFist Eve pick for last week's winner? Oh yeah, the EBX. Crazy letters! What happened to the Peoplesoft refugees? An Oakland program for parolees closes down after budget cuts. Cover: Why doesn't anyone want to shop in Fruitvale Village? (Mismarketing.) Hey, Shaq's coming to town! I Like Eating pens a romantic ode to his girlfriend and steamed sea bass, sweet. And the 924 Gilman Christmas party. The Guardian: Hey, you guys got a new faster web server -- rad! Things to do in 2006. Big shocker -- "get public power" is number three on the list! The other Chris Daley (from the Transgender Law Center) pens an op-ed. You know, those two Chrises really need to get together and do something. Cover article: the Guardian reflects on this year in national politics. Yikes, a naked picture of Jeff Gannon! New underwear store in the Mission (please, someone buy some for Mr. Gannon.) Sex columnist on male lactation. Berkeley label Isota Records. Sonic Reducer produces a list column (no. 13 -- suggests Gwen Stefani name her baby Hollaback). Local band: the Winechuggers (good name). After the jump: We've missed the SF Weekly, we really have! We also missed the Metro, but for different reasons (we promise to get one the next time we're in SJ!)...

sfbg1010.jpg Just a little word from your sponsor before we kick into last week's winner: this correspondent's taking a little time off from the column -- it's not you, it's us -- and SFist Eve has generously volunteered to cover the column for a few weeks. We'll be back soon, though, we promise! (Or rather, more specifically, we promised SFist Eve.) Okay, where were we? Oh yes, the Guardian. It's the endorsement issue! Get your November ballot cheat sheet here! (Never fear, SFist will do one too, if we get around to it.) Featuring: the world's most tepid endorsement in the assessor's race! (Thanks to Left in SF for pointing this out.) In other news, an article about Friend of SFist H. Brown's one-blogger campaign for reopening the bathrooms in the public park, and a picture of a protest outside TIC lawyer Andrew Zacks' office. Hey, that's right by our Peets' Coffee! The sex columnist is forced to explain the sex subculture of people obsessed with Conan the Barbarian. (Maybe the SchwarzenWatcher can get behind that one?) Local band Deerhoof. And two pictures previously featured on the 'Fist, Edward Burtynsky and Dr. Atomic. Next up, the Metro: Legal drug plants! Landlord evicts all those cool shops in the middle of downtown San Jose -- apparently tacos will attract SJSU student riffraff. The Mercury News refuses to run an article about a man campaigning against "penal enlargement" (you know, prisons) with a mildly-risque cartoon illustration. Cover article: facilitating Chinese internet censorship with Cisco routers. Just like the SJ City Hall, only substitute the word "ethical shenanigans for "Chinese internet censorship." Korean food in the S. Bay. Gwen Stefani and other folks who broke from their bands in an attempt to make it big. How's that working out for ya, Trey Anastacio? And Straight Dope: who ya got, Shakespeare or Tom Clancy? Get your New Times Media barrage with the SF Weekly and the EBX after the jump. Plus, this correspondent's very last pick of the week! Who knows what SFist Eve's gonna like starting next week? ...

Maybe it's because we're back to work after a long weekend, but SFist has taken to getting nostalgic for those glory days of yore- last week. Ahh, last week, what a week that was- Gwen Stefani's "Holla Back Girl" was climbing the charts, all of TV nation was breathlessly awaiting the season finale of "Lost" in hopes that a lot of questions will be answered, and the Giants were rolling. Good times, good times. But that was then and this is now and as Diamond David Lee once sang, channeling the great Ray Davies before him, "where have all the good times gone?" When we last posted, the Giants had taken two from the A's and won the first game of a three game stand against the Dodgers. After one more victory against LA, the Giants played a tight, close game on Thursday only to have the bullpen come in and blow it. Then on Friday, the Giants played another tight, close game only to have the bullpen come in and blow it. And on Saturday they played another tight, close game only to have the, well, you get the point. After starting the home stand so well and making people think that they might be able to start making some noise, the rest of the home stand turned into a total disaster as they were swept by the division leading, so hot right now, Padres. Your main culprit in the blowouts? Closer du jour Tyler Walker who gave up big hits seemingly every damn night. ...

B0009I46TY.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_ This shhhhh really is bananas! Just like Gwen Stefani, Supervisor Chris Daly stuck it to the student teachers (stomp stomp), getting ev'ryone riled up (stomp stomp). He ain't no hollaback supe -- he ain't no hollaback supe! So what's the hollering about? What's it always about? MUNI! So Daly, who's been on the forefront of protesting the MUNI fare hikes, made a routine motion to put off discussing the rollback in the parking fees so it could be discussed at the same time as the other MUNI budget objections he and the transit advocates wanted to make. Supervisor McGoldrick then said he wouldn't vote for the motion. "Are you kidding me?," our peroxide-blonde cheerleader ska-punk-pop princess said. Sandoval then said he wouldn't either. Response? "F*** that!" Bring it, Chris! Chanting, gavel-banging, and the cops get called, after the jump. Yeah!...
