You probably heard about the ungodly and totally uncalled-for shooting that took place during Sunday services at a Richmond church this past weekend — an act which, because it's so fucked up, may just propel Richmond ahead of Vallejo as the worst place to be in the Bay Area right now. Well, Richmond police now have one of their three suspects in custody, a 15-year-old male, following a series of search warrants served in the last few days. Early Sunday morning a 20-year-old Richmond man allegedly shot three people outside Suede nightclub, at 383 Bay Street, near Fisherman's Wharf. One of those shot, 19-year-old Richmond man Lawson Hall, is dead, and the two others suffered life threatening injuries. The suspect was shot and later arrested by a patrol special police officer in the neighborhood. A conflict inside the nightclub allegedly moved onto the street, where at least the one gun was drawn. more ›

17-year-old Joseph Jones of Stockton was arraigned as an adult this week in San Joaquin County court on 28 counts, including five home invasion robberies beginning in October. Jones is accused of committing seven other robberies and attempted robberies in the same span of time, but it's his penchant for home invasion with the use of guns that is the freakiest part. Several of the counts he'll be tried for are for kidnapping, with victims ranging in age from four to 81. In his robberies, Jones typically stole money, jewelry, guns. With at least fifteen shots fired, a Hercules man was gunned down outside his townhouse at about 10:30 p.m. last night. It appears to be a gang-style hit, with the suspect waiting for the victim to arrive home and firing so many shots at close range before fleeing on foot. Hercules, for those who don't know, is a small-ish bedroom community in the East Bay, north of Richmond, which in recent years has seen a ton of new development and a huge rise in population. All KRON 4 knows is that the victim was 43 years old, and that police don't have any leads on the assailant. more ›

Three people were shot outside the Regency Ballroom at Van Ness and Sutter on Sunday night where radio station KMEL was hosting its annual House of Soul event. The incident allegedly began as a fist fight which spilled out of the venue on to Van Ness, and ended with gun shots fired. As of this writing there's no word as to whether any passersby were injured, but according to ABC 7 none of the shooting victims were gravely injured. Sidenote: There was a wedding reception going on in the Masonic temple space on the top floor of the building at the time of the shooting, which was unfortunately interrupted by the sound of gun shots. more ›
