Choose your allusion-- the sword of Damocles finally striking, the chickens coming home to roost, karma being an ill-tempered bitch-- but Barry Lamar is now up against it for breaking the law, breaking the law. Personally, we were a bit stunned that it happened coming as it did years after the actual case, but we're cavemen-- we fell on some ice and was later thawed by some of your scientists. Your world frightens and confuses us!

You know who doesn't want to Spare The Air anymore? BART. Disturbed by the uptick in crime as a result of the all-day free rides (on that last Friday of Sparing The Air, the BART police went on twice as many calls as usual), the BART police chief has proposed that they go back to just making BART free during commute hours on extra hot and smoggy days. Matier and Ross had some lurid crimes to report, including a girlfight at the Berkeley stop, and two San Francisco kids who took the BART out to Pleasanton to try breaking into cars in the parking lot.

Looks like the Google guys can dish out the privacy-invasion but can't take it -- they've sued the guy who was designing their super-secret Boeing 767 for violating a confidentiality agreement. After the designer was fired, he went to the press and revealed, among other things, that the Google founders wanted to install hammocks and a California king-sized bed in the plane, and that the project had been described as "a party plane."

And the next shoe dropped.

For a trial that's supposed to be leak proof, this whole BALCO mess is leaking all over the place. In response to charges of misconduct brought on by details of the investigation leaking, , the court leaked documents on Friday detailing an interview Federal Agents had with Barry Bonds' personal trainer Greg Anderson ("Barry Bonds' Personal Trainer Gary Anderson", of course, pretty much being his new name). In the report, Anderson named several Giants' players as users of steroids. Those Giants included Bobby Estalella, Armando "Brian Sabean Suckered the Pirates Into Trading Me For Jason Schmidt" Rios, and 2002 playoff hero Benito Santiago. Anderson denied giving Bonds' anything, but when presented with evidence showing that he had, Anderson stopped the interview saying that "he didn't think he should be talking anymore because he didn't want to go to jail." This follows the story from several weeks ago in which the Chronicle said they had secretly recorded tapes of Anderson in which he talked about giving the undetectable steriod known as "the clear" to Bonds. Anderson's lawyer denied the charges. As did BALCO head Victor Conte

After this weekend, it's going to get harder for us Giants' fans to try and live in our shiny, happy denial land in regards to Barry Bonds and this whole BALCO mess. While most of the blared out to the world that they actually have a tape from 2003 purportedly of Barry's trainer and friend, Greg Anderson, bragging to several people on the phone about all the drugs they've been giving the Big Guy. And no, there's no hard evidence that Barry took any steroids, but the story did have most Giants fans scrambling for some sort of way to explain away the story (like how, on the tape, Anderson comes off as a major-league schmuck). The story got the usual hand-wringing from Commissioner Bud and the usual snide comment from one-time teammate Jeff Kent.

Gary Sheffield dishes on BALCO and Barry Bonds.
