On the morning after a euphoric night of celebrating the New York State Senate's decision to legalize same-sex marriage, contributor Garth Johnston penned a lovely proposal to his boyfriend of five and a half years, Woody Loverude, on Gothamist:

When I went out the night of November 22, 2005, I don't know what I was looking for, but it wasn't the love of my life. And yet here we are. The next morning I sent myself an e-mail, the entire body of which read: "His name is Woody Loverude."

Head over to Gothamist to read the rest. Be sure to take some tissues with you.

MUSIC: Late '90s Santa Cruz band the Huxtables headline a night of "fun rock" tunes. Take, for example, the song their dedicated to Dungeons & Dragons, "Dungeon Master," which they had to revise after the latest edition of the game was released. Talk about staying true to your deliciously dorky roots. (For a more in-depth explanation of this adorable geek-rock song, go here.) Alt-country band the Bitter Sweets and Two If by Sea open for the SC gang. <mtinclude blog_id="24" module="Corolla: Crest"> </mtinclude>

MUSIC: (Very attractive) Afro-Cuban jazz guitarist Gonzalo Rubalcaba takes stale jazz tunes and miraculously makes them sound ultra-fresh again -- a feat that's almost impossible to do with the notoriously dated jazz genre. Catch him tonight and/or tomorrow night over in the Fillmore district.

The mastermind of steps behind such famous works as Gypsy, West Side Story, and Fiddler on the Roof, just to name a few, will be discussed in length tonight at "Words on Dance Celebrates the Life and Career of Jerome Robbins." The panel discussion will be hosted by "Robbins expert" Amanda Vaill, dancers Grover Dale and Sondra Lee, lyricist Sheldon Harnick, and Oakland's always way cool Rita Moreno (who effortlessly won the Academy Award winner in West Side Story for playing "Anita".) <mtinclude blog_id="24" module="Corolla: Crest"> </mtinclude>

7:30 p.m. // The Red Vic [1727 Haight] // $5-8.50

MUSIC: Buxter Hoot'n is a relatively young band, an outfit that uses both acoustic and electric sounds, has gone from relative obscurity to gaining underground buzz in record time. While all to easy to dismiss them as a jam band, Relix Magazine claims that they have the "independent rawness and creative brilliance that leads to a cult classic." And you just can't argue with rawness of the independent variety, folks. Campo Bravo and the Blank Tapes open for Buxter Hoot'n.

COMEDY: Although he was born in Alabama, Reggie Steele honed his storytelling form of stand-up comedy right here in the Bay Area. The former Last Comic Standing finalist performs tonight.

Our parent site, Gothamist, tells us that "WNBC reports that the letters, which arrived today, included a photo of the Army recruiting center 'before it was bombed and...the words 'We did it.'" Which group is claiming responsibility, exactly, remains to be known.

According to the AP, Senator Dianne Feinstein's office sent the following email to other lawmakers:

"A few offices on the House side have received a letter today addressed to 'Members of Congress' with a picture of a man standing in front of the Times Square recruiting station that was bombed in New York today with the statement 'We did it.' He is standing in front of it with his arms spread out and he's attached his political manifesto."

The email, according to Gothamist, also advised people not to open the letters and contact the police.

Today's Times Square attack caused minimal damage to a "New York military recruiting station before dawn Thursday and police were searching for a hooded bicyclist seen on a surveillance video pedaling away," according to CBS. Although the blast was minor, it could have caused "injury and even death."

SFist Tonight

<MTInclude blog_id="24" module="Corolla: Top">

Arts & Entertainment

A HREF

American Music

As

Brazilian

Castro Theater

Club

Columbus

comedy

Comedy Club

dj

El Rio

eve ensler

Gothamist

Great American

Great American Music Hall

IMG SRC

Market Sts

music

Music Hall

North Beach

Obie Award

Outer Mission

Queer

Soup

sparks

Sponsor Corolla

Talk Soup

the Castro

theater

tonight

Vagina Monologues

Brock Keeling

<mtinclude blog_id="24" module="Corolla: Top">

LECTURE: Yeah, yeah, you can go listen to Greil Marcus prattle on endlessly about the Magnetic Fields and the outback, or whatever, later this month at teh JCCSF. Or better yet, you can hear Family Ties creator Gary Goldberg talk about what it was like working with Michale J. Fox (his second choice to play Alex P. Keaton), Stephen Spielberg (who Goldberg tried to talk out of doing E.T.), on the set of Spin City, and more. He speaks tonight at the Jewish Community center of San Francisco. (Also, according to IMDB, he doesn't own a computer.
*MUSIC: Hotel Utah launches a brand spanking new party, YEAR. The night is being labeled as an "innovative branded concept," hosted by KUSF radio personality and creative director for the Mill Valley Film Festival, Dennis "The Menace" Scheyer. Each month at YEAR, one year will be celebrated -- ranging from 1956 to 2006 -- and the playlist for that month's event will be the top hits from that year. Which year will be the focus for tonight? Find out for yourself tonight over in SOMA.<mtinclude blog_id="24" module="Corolla: Crest"> </mtinclude>

COMEDY: Head over to Cobb's where Last Comic Standing will tape amateur comics performing their "best" material to (hopefully) make your guffaw. It will be a hilarious/painful night of comedy. Not to be missed.

CLUB: Tonight's theme at Charlie Horse, one of the best club nights to catch drag in the entire universe, is "Valley of the Dolls." How fitting. (Get it? Because the trannies are all on drugs over there? Eh.) Anyway, if you can't make it tonight, lucky for you Ana Conda hosts this show every Friday night at the Cinch.

FILM: Check out Noise Pop 2008's documentary film offering, . The "sincere" film about the titular schizophrenic musician screens over at the Roxie.
