The Abandoned Couches of San Francisco: Volume 2
It's been over a year since we first took a look at San Francisco's abandoned living room furniture. After local photographer Erik Wilson introduced us to the Sofa Free Flickr Pool, he and other upholstery-obsessed local photographers have been keeping busy snapping photos and gathering info for whatever the furniture version of a homeless census would be. Here are the highlights from the SFist Flickr pool in all their gritty, seated glory.
What's Going On Here, Brokenhearted Sofa?
Photographer Erik Wilson (famous for his abandoned sofa oeuvre) snapped this shot of a message from brokenhearted Pappy to his very special Bugaloo. Pappy wrote similar pleas here and here.
The Abandoned Couches of San Francisco
Abandoned couches on city streets, you see them all the time. We had no idea, however, how prevalent they were until they kept popping up over and over and over again in the SFist Flickr pool. Specifically, local photographer Erik Wilson (Generik11) snapped well over 100 images of discarded couches on the streets of San Francisco...
SFist asked Wilson to tell us about his interest in orphaned couches. He explains:
Bed Bug Allegations
Via Mission Mission, a Yelper took it upon herself to warn fellow customers of a local bookstore that she had allegedly gotten bed bug bites while sitting and reading Twilight in one of their comfy armchairs. [Update: We have no evidence she was reading Twilight -- we were just subtly riffing off of Mission Mission's sarcasm -- SFist.]
