Oh dear. Just days after Brian Austin was stabbed to death at 47th Avenue and Fulton Street, a (homelss!) man was shot yesterday in Golden Gate Park. According to the fuzz, he took a hit at 25th Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive, a little after 11 p.m. No arrests have been made. As for the victim, he is in stable condition. Golden Gate Park? Not so much....

Yikes. SFPD found a man stabbed to death at 47th Avenue and Fulton Street early this morning, a little before 3 a.m. After responding to several calls complaining about a man screaming in the streets, police discovered the dead body of a 29-year-old man when they arrived on the scene.
Being paralyzed by choice is pretty much the peril of music lovers in this town. If you didn’t see Beirut’s amazing show last night at the Herbst, you’re probably considering how to check them out tonight. On the other hand approximately half the population of Swedish rockers are performing at The Independent tonight. And well, Swedish bands are just so very hot. Headliners are the Shout Out Louds, whose new album we can’t say enough good things about. In supporting roles are Johnossi and Nico Vega. Oh, and to tip the scales a little more, the kind folks at Tank Farm Future Sounds are not only sponsoring the tour, but are also hosting an after party with the bands, which YOU, yes YOU dear SFist reader are invited too. Yes, it’s a school night, but come on.. Swedish Rock stars and after party. You do the math. Make sure you stop by and say hi to SFist. Just in case you’re still wavering Ossi Bonde of Johnossi took some time out of touring to answer our many questions about Stockholm and San Francisco. Which is especially timely since Johnossi's self titled debut was released in the US today. Let Ossi's responses be the decider in your life.
Continuing with our theme of mayhem in the streets, we have news of two accidents today, one involving a death. Today in San Francisco, there was a hit-and-run that left one dead and three hurt. This all occurred late last night, around 12:30 AM when a minivan traveling north on Laguna Street went through a red light at Fulton Street and hit a cab. The cab then spun out, hit a pole, and then collided into a parked car. The driver then fled the scene and was arrested later somewhere in the East Bay. Most of the people hurt in the accident worked at Bar Crudo sushi restaurant.
SFist Rita's watching the Schwarzen for the next two weeks as SFist Jon takes a well-deserved vacation!
Approval levels in the 36 percent range -- are we talking about Bush or the California governor? What's the SchwartzenWatcher got cooking for you today?
The governor's veto-happy! It's not just gay marriage, either -- he also just vetoed the bill that was going to double fines for traffic violators on 19th Avenue. Activists with relatives killed on 19th Avenue are furious, especially since Mr. Governor gave no reason for the veto except saying that we needed more traffic safety awareness in general. Personally, we're also impressed with the Examiner's headline on this article: "GOVERNOR STEPS IN FRONT OF HIGHER 19TH AVE. FINES."
Now, we've been saying for some time, what kind of guy decides he's going to pick a fight with teachers, nurses, and firefighters in the first place? (you know, "People like me.") Aren't these the most beloved people in the world? Why not just take a stance against puppies too while you're at it? Well, ask and ye shall receive -- Schwarzenegger has announced that he will be vetoing a bill aimed at stopping the sale of puppies that are too young to leave their mothers by the puppy mill industry. We are so excited for protests with nurses in white uniforms, firefighters in suspenders, and little puppies with signs around their neck that say "ARF! for Angelides!"
Grrrrrr, you say! What can be done? Well -- as SFist MattyMatt says, there's a protest tonight about gay marriage at the state building at 455 Golden Gate (between Larkin and Polk) from 4:30-7. If you're more of a uniony type, Alliance For a Better California is organizing a precinct walk about the special election on Saturday. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the African-American Art and Cultural Complex at 762 Fulton Street.

A good, strong cup is always a priority -- but it's not always the whole story.
Watching last night's premiere of "Lost" (by the way, that show kicks total a**) brought back fond memories of Lost star Matthew Fox's previous show, "Party of Five." While SFist isn't necessarily fond of that kind of show, we watched this series regularly in our shared Fulton Street apartment. We got specific pleasure out of the fact that it was supposed to take place here in San Francisco, but, other than an occasional establishing shot, it was so obviously shot in LA.
