Remember that four-alarm house fire in Tiburon we mentioned yesterday? Well, sadly, that burning house belonged to Marin County icon, author, peace activist and collector of all things purple, Barbara Meislin, who had lived in the house for 43 years. Everything she owned and wore, from the flowers in her garden to her undergarments to her cell phone, was purple. (She was profiled in Marin Magazine in 2007 -- read it here.) The house was filled with Meislin's panoply of purple trinkets and furniture, and she has vowed to rebuild.

Fire at Tiffany's
A little early for breakfast (7 p.m. last night), a two-alarm fire broke out at 360 Post on Union Square, otherwise known as the Tiffany's building, whose upper floors are home to various office and doctor-type tenants. The fire is said to have been in the basement of the eleven-story building and was contained within a half hour. No word on how many little robin's egg blue boxes were destroyed, or how long Tiffany's might need to be closed.
No Smoke, No Fire
Have no fear if you're walking down Second Street between Folsom and Harrison, just around the corner from SFist World HQ. That long line of fire engines hogging all the parking meters isn't responding to a ten alarm disaster, nor the opening of a new Hooters.
