After eleven days, firefighters in the Santa Cruz Mountains completed their containment line yesterday afternoon and have announced officially that the Lockheed Fire (which we were calling the Bonny Doon Fire) has now been fully contained. Around 2,400 people were evacuated in total, and the fire is said to have cost over $25 million in damages and burned almost 8,000 acres. Phew!

Former SFister Dianne de Guzman sent word about a block shutdown this morning. "Firefighter activity at Mission near Ocean. The block is shut down. About 3-4 trucks. No visible flames. Firefighters on roof with axes. Couldn't see which business they were on."
