Run With The Bus: Race The 22-Fillmore Bus Next Week
According to Muni, the 22-Fillmore route from the Marina Green to Geary takes anywhere between 22 just 17 minutes. You'll need strong legs if you want to run beat that time. See, on Wednesday, July 20, The folks behind Motion Starved wants you to join them as they attempt to race (and beat!) the 22-Fillmore line from the Marina Green all the way to Geary Boulevard. Those of you first to reach the top of Fillmore Hill will be rewarded with prizes, glory.
Ross Mirkarimi Wants to Get the Western Addition in on Fillmore Revitalization
In Pac Heights, the problem is too much empty retail and not enough restaurants, but down in the [ahem] Lower Fillmore area District 5 Supervisor and potential sheriff Ross Mirkarimi sees a different factor holding back revitalization of the district: Businesses using ground-floor storefronts as offices. Don't these businesses know that's where the boutiques are supposed to go?

The Week Ahead: Bay Area Concerts
The week kicks off with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White playing several just-announced all acoustic sets at Yoshi's Oakland. Then on Thursday, jangly French pop band Phoenix is at The Warfield, and their set will surely include the single "Lisztomania" (video above) from their latest album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. The lyrics are charmingly foreign, including the refrain, "Lisztomania / Think less but see it grow / Like a riot, like a riot, oh ! / I'm not easily offended / It's not hard to let it go / From a mess to the masses." We think it's about socialized medicine, or something. Anyway, it's fun.
SFist Blotter
SUNDAY / FILLMORE: Two peole are expected to survive a drive-by shooting in the Fillmore district. According to CBS 5, "One person was shot in the thigh and another in the ankle near Eddy and Laguna streets around 8:30 p.m." One suspect, much to our surprise, was arrested. But police are not sure if said detainee is a suspect. Or something like that.
Andrew Bird at The Fillmore
We snapped these pictures at the show last night. Although Andrew Bird has managed to sell out two nights at the Fillmore, we'd say its worth braving a craigslist purchase or showing up nice and early at the show tonight. He of the mighty whistling ability never seems to disappoint. Expect a mix of old and new songs, some super sweet security staff, and a rapt crowd.
Strange Brews
Given the drinks we are about to discuss, you might think we were still pregnant. But we're not.
Small Blaze Shuts Down Fillmore, Cancels Shows
Last night's show at the Fillmore was on fire. Literally. Before headliners Dethklok hit the stage, an electrical fire was "sparked during Soilent Green's opening set," according to SF Weekly. Fans were ushered out of the building posthaste. Yikes.

Here's your chance to win a spot on Grand Ole Party's guest list for their upcoming concert with Rogue Wave on Saturday night at the Fillmore. We promised and we never break our promises. (Well, at least we try not to.)
Owl Tree to Make Comeback
Okay, so it's only noon-ish and perhaps it's a bit early to think about drinking, but when it involves one of our favorite bars, we're gonna brave an alkie reputation to bring this bit of news: Our friends over at EaterSF are reporting that the Owl Tree may be making its way back onto the dive bar scene. After writing about construction starting up at the SF institution, readers wrote EaterSF with e-mails saying that the Owl Tree will be restored.
This Week in Le Rock: Feb 18 - 24
Join us tonight at the Fillmore, where Sia (one of our favorites) will be headlining. We saw her at the end of last year and the show was definitely fantastic; we highly recommend checking out tonight's show. Her latest album, Some People Have Real Problems, is stellar and has garnered critical success jumping to #26 on the Billboard charts, selling more than 20,000 copies and finishing ahead of fellow press darling Kate Nash (all in the first week of sales). The show starts with Har Mar Superstar at 8pm (doors at 7pm). See you there!
This Week in Le Rock: January 21 - 27
Wow, one show on Monday and twelve on Friday. This week we definitely start off a bit slow, but by the end of the week, we have a ton of choices.
You've Read the Post, Now See the 22-Fillmore Orgy In Action!
You guys rock. Like, for reals. Why? Because just seconds after SFist Dan reported on today's 22-Fillmore mash up, we find an image of said Muni bus stacking in our inbox.
The 22 Will Not Be Eaten By A Tiger Today
We were walking down Fillmore Street near the SFist Staff Writer Dickensian Workhouse just now, and in the time it took us to go from Page Street to Fillmore Street, we were passed by no fewer than five 22-Fillmore busses. The first was packed the gills, the last was predictably empty.
