Sorry for the delay in reading your alt-weeklies this week; there was a comical mixup in our attempts to implement the weekly switchoff between us and SFist Sarah L. We'll try again in a few weeks, and we also briefly considered just not doing something this week, and then we thought, Oh no -- what about the YTD count? Everyone in December will say "that only adds up to 51!". So here we are! Last......

The SFPUC has a nifty little idea to help the city go green and that is to turn all the leftover grease from city restaurant's into biodiesel fuel for diesel buses. It’s the proverbial killing two birds with one stone proposal as it will prevent grease from making a mess in the sewage system while helping the environment. All of this is part of what's called a B20 plan which states that it would be super swell if we use a formula of 80% gas and 20% biodiesel. ...

Here's what's opening this week: Wild Hogs About four wannabe bikers who stumble into a chapter of Hell’s Angels, the film looks like an updated (and not-so-yuppie) retelling of City Slickers. Wild Hogs features Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence, John Travolta and William H. Macy. A huge event for the Chinese “Year of the Pig” saw all four of the film’s stars in some sort of parade on the Embarcadero. There were supposed to be floats-- and motorcycles, of course. We hear you couldn’t pay press to attend. Let's hope the same can't be said of the movie. ...

We're heading down to the Make Out Room (3225 22nd St. b/w Mission and Valencia) tonight for LitPAC and LitQuake's Progressive Reading Series featuring Dave Eggers, Keith Knight, Mary Roach (author of Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers), and more, hosted by Stephen Elliott author of Looking Forward To It: or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the American Electoral Process. This is the last of this year's series of monthly......

You know how much we love it when we get email from people who don't seem to to give SFist that close a read. In fact, we spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out what might have inspired a particular email. Then again, the more time we spend trying to unravel the mysteries of odd email, like the one below, the less time we spend trashing Muni. From: REDACTED To: editor@sfist.com Date:......

Saturday's screening of "101 Must-See Movies for Gay Men" was like a clip show of gayish movies -- presenter Alonso Duralde made a few quick introductions, and the rest was a whirlwind of Elizabeth Taylor and heaving gladiators, a stream of clips that left us even gayer than we were when we walked in. But first, can we just say: WTF, Frameline? You have only one screening for an event that is not just sold......

Geez, guys, isn't the first rule not to talk about it? CNN picks up an AP report about a chatty high-tech fight club in Menlo Park. The group ("Gentlemen's Fight Club") is by invite only, involves at least a dozen people, and the only protective gear they can wear are either a fencing mask or hockey mask. Weapons include pillowcases stuffed with soda cans, frying pans, and tennis rackets. It's so Dwight Schrute! There are......

Just because this year's IndieFest is over doesn't mean that those IndieFest folks are coasting on their successsful 'Fest glory. In conjunction with Drunken Monkey, you can see Fight Club tonight at the good old Cat Club (1190 Folsom at 8th). Doors open at 9 for the free screening, the movie (did we mention that it's free?) starts at 10, and there's a DJ until the (in SFist's opinion) too-early close of 2 a.m.......

Here at the Office of the SFist Ombudsman, we keep charge of our readers' trust. (Stop by and we'll show you the little newspaper-lined cage we've got it in.) Thus it falls to us, when circumstances warrant, to call bullshit on one of our site contributors. And so this past weekend, following the dissolution of the first-ever SFist (Almost)-All-Staff Throwdown, we cornered the Essefficist, who spent many weeks away from his post, only to......
