The San Francisco Board of Supervisors City Operations and Neighborhood Services Committee, according to KRON 4, approved legislation yesterday that would ban cat declawing in San Francisco. The Board of Supervisors will vote on next week on the issue. Much to no one's surprise, West Hollywood has a ban on cat declawing. Other California cities considering doing the same thing include Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Berkeley, and Beverly Hills.

Tips On Photographing Your Cat
As Laughing Squid pointed out today, if there's one thing the internets needs more of it's cats. Lots of them too. Which is why Karen Nichols at Catster came up with the top five tips for getting the best shots out of your furry feline friends. Nichols suggests shooting in natural light, no flash; using a fast shutter speed (more details = more eeee!); getting low to the floor at the cat's level (optimal for paw shots and other precious action you might normally miss up high); and being generous with the treats and toys (which you should be doing anyway). Be sure to check out how to get the most out of your cat.
North Marin Water District Employee Held on Cat Abuse Charges
Corey Reed, 28, of Novato was arrested Saturday on one felony count and one misdemeanor count of attempted animal cruelty. It seems this sick human being poured antifreeze into food bowls that had been left for around 25 feral cats in the area. According to Carrie Harrington of the Humane Society, the animal group had "been working with water-district employees to control the feral-cat population in the area, but authorities don't believe that was a reason for the suspect's actions." We hope someone pours gasoline in Reed's food tray in the clink.
