Tonight October is SF Open Studios month, where art enthusiasts and wine and cheese chasers can traipse around the city and visit the studios of San Francisco artists and sign up on their mailing lists or buy their work. Tonight there are preview receptions featuring numerous artists at Belcher Studios and Gallery (69 Belcher, near Market, Church, 14th St.) and at Art Explosion Studios in two locations - 744 Alabama St. (between 19th &......

Last week's winner, the East Bay Express: Hey, all you people who hated the anarchists we used to use to illustrate this column -- that picture is bona fide from this week's EBX! Take it up with the Bottom Feeder! (who's covering off-leash dog owners shenanigans in S. Berkeley). Dude, it's so easy to get a fake drivers' license from the DMV. Asians poisoning other Asian semiconductor workers in Fremont. Cover article: making energy from termites. Friday night, Taiwanese protest music. (he should protest for those Fremont semiconductor workers!) A Mexican place in downtown Oakland. And a guest music columnist on New Orleans.
Next up, the Bay Guardian: Yo, people are throwing feces over the MUNI fare strike! SFist Jackson, you didn't say nothin' about that! Cover article: stories ignored by the mainstream media. Why is it always the sunshine laws in these "stories you didn't hear" articles? Also, the Guardian thinks no one is paying attention to the New Times-Village Voice merger. You know what would get that issue some more attention? More articles about it in the Guardian. Annalee Newitz sez they're monitoring our color printers! More on Fecal Face (no, not the MUNI fare striker). Local music (two more). And Sarah Han's comic From The Sidelines on getting comped for shows. That totally happens all the time!
After the jump: The Weekly and the pick of the week. The Metro didn't get delivered to our usual pickup spot this week, sorry! ...

Last night we went to a see a new play called 'Sleeper,' written by the lovely and talented Samantha Chanse and directed by Friend of SFist Oliver Saria. We've seen Sam and Oliver slay an audience doing stand-up, so it came as no surprise that the play came with a healthy dose of laughs. There's one more show tonight and tomorrow at eight at Bindlestiff Studio, 6th and Natoma. Finally, some actual summer weather,......

Excuse us for missing the boat last month. We were still in the frozen north, but that doesn't mean we couldn't have cribbed our tips from Fecal Face like we do every week. Our friend Lisa Dent (who gets back to us when we leave her messages, thank you very much -- hence the adoring coverage. Also, like us, she's a young upstart in town) is showing San Francisco Art Institute alum Robin Ward's Otherkin.......

It's our last First Thursday before Christmas, and we'd like to indulge our inner child and post on toy-themed opening receptions today. We'd also like to offer the gift of art event listings in the form of Fecal Face (thanks again SFist Emily!), which is where we crib our art listings when we aren't shamelessly shilling for our friends. At the Future Primitive Sound headquarters, 497 Haight, will be the opening night of Home Ec,......
