Former San Bruno NASA engineer, Mark Zelinsky, was sentenced to three years in federal prison after admitting to downloading child pornography using a computer owned by the government while he worked at the NASA Ames Research Center at Moffet Field.

57-year-old Zelinsky will also be "placed on supervised release for seven years after his release from prison." This is one of three NASA engineer to get pinched for downloading kiddie porn on his NASA-owned computer. Earlier this week Christopher Burt Wiltsee, 57, of Morgan Hill pleaded guilty to a charge of child pornography possession. He will be sentenced later in April.

So we'll have to assume it's because their engineers are already in way over their heads; and nobody there has any idea what they're doing, and they can't hire someone who does because they Mayor spent all their money.

UPDATE! We asked Muni for comment last Friday, the 25th; and we'd originally intended to give them a week to respond. But we accidentally hit "publish" today instead. Rather than un-publish the post, we'll leave it up; and we'll let you know if they ever wind up getting back to us.
