Fancy new signs at the Embarcadero station.

Oh, man. Timing is everything. This is better than gum. This is better than energy bars. Today we were given Advil Liqui-gels when coming out of Embarcadero Station.

We were rather pleased Monday, yesterday, and again today to be subjected to nice young lasses offering free gum to those exiting the Embarcadero Station on the corner of Market and Spear. In fact, today was best of all three so far-- while Monday's Dentyne-dealer gave us two packets (each with one piece of gum), and yesterday's ignored us to where we stomped off in a gumless huff, today's "Carefree" (ha, there we go biting the hand that feeds us) young lady just stuck out a massive, double handful of gum and invited commuters to grab as much as they liked.

Service changes! Yay! Who doesn't love service changes? Communists, that's who.

Now that yesterday's BART fire is out and trains are moving again, the inevitable finger-pointing has begun. Who bears the blame here?

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has offered their stories, thoughts and support in this matter. We were honestly expecting maybe half a dozen people to show up tomorrow, but now we think that it's going to be a lot bigger, which is awesome. This story seems to have really touched a nerve! We notified local press and relevant city agencies through an official press release [PDF] yesterday. Once again, it's tomorrow, Saturday, at noon. Please assemble quietly at the Embarcadero Station Muni Fare Gate. We'll be catching a train at 12:30, and finishing around 2:00 at the Castro station if you miss us.

We've been a bit remiss in keeping up with all our blog reading, or we would have caught this story on BoingBoing ourselves. But it was big enough to have been forwarded to us by friends of SFist Ross and Jeff.
