Tomorrow Is Election Day! Oh, What A Day! What A Day!

Hey kids! Tomorrow is Election Day across this great land of ours and you know what good citizens do on Election Day? They vote, that's what! Here is a quick run down of what we have to look forward to dealing with here in San Francisco as we engage in that great experiment this writer loves to call la democracia:

-- Why, it seems to be election day. [SFGate]

Even though he runs without any serious opponent, Newsom's camp is still pulling their hair out over this election and the turnout. Newsom'07 Phone Bank sent us a release, with the following:

. Boooo!). It's actually a pretty decent article about the future of the Chron online, the criminal lack of mentioning of Eve notwithstanding. Book section. Meredith Brody tries out Top Chef entrees around town. SFist Ced is outraged that she would review a TGI Friday's when there's no TGI Friday's in the City. Wasn't there a TGI Friday's in Fisherman's Wharf? What happened to that one? The (((folkYEAH!))) festival in Big Sur. Doc's Clock, everyone's second-choice hipster bar. And Dan Savage ate too much pot pumpkin cake.

During election day, SFist will be running a Diary of a Poll Worker by friend of SFist Leeanne. This was written about the night before the election. Check in later as we continue to see what life is like on the other side of elections

This is it! Your District 6 election is finally here! This week's episode: Everybody Hates The District 6 Election.

--The US Attorney's office is going to monitor the SF elections, like we're East Timor or Florida or something.

SFist Jackson passed this along to us -- the Stanford Center for Internet and Society, in conjunction with the Center for Citizen Media, is sponsoring an Election Day Bloggers' Legal Guide for November 7.

While doing our standard election-night browsing, we dropped by the Guardian to see if any late reports were filed online -- but the site was down! Details at this point are still very, very sketchy, but the initial report from Steven T. Jones suggests foul play:

Maybe there is something to this 6/6/06 numerological weirdness after all. The mood seems dark and sinister for an election day. And it was certainly some devilish characters who have shut our Web site down all day with a denial of service attack. We don't know which ones, but the likely suspect list should start with those affiliated with candidates that we didn't endorse in close races: Fiona Ma, Mike Nevin, Lillian Sing, Steve Westly, and the downtown players gunning for Chris Daly's propositions. I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I'm just saying it was someone, and probably someone who knows how influential Guardian endorsements have been in the past.
Let the conspiracy theories commence! We're seeing an unlikely cabal formed by Ma, Nevin and Sing approaching the deep-pocketed Westly with a simple proposal: "Get in touch with your old buddies in Silicon Valley, bankroll an attack on the Guardian, and you'll have the Bay Area in your pocket against Angelides -- the progressives will have no idea who to vote for without their precious endorsements!" We can see them all cackling over highballs and stroking long-haired cats now...
