Edwin Ramos Takes Stand In Trial For 2008 Triple Murder
Some of you may recall the horrible incident in June of 2008, originally thought to have been connected to road rage, which claimed the lives of a father and his two sons while driving on Maynard Street in the Excelsior district. 21-year-old MS-13 gang member Edwin Ramos was arrested for the murder of Tony Bologna, 48, and sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. A third son, Andrew, who's now 20, was also in the car and survived, and he fingered Ramos as the shooter, though his defense attorney has maintained that Ramos was only the driver of the car from which the shots were fired. Today, Ramos took the stand in his own defense, and painted a picture of an abused child who had fallen into gang life in order to find acceptance and security.
The Convicted Illegal Immigrant Song
In a rebuke to Gavin's proposal to hand illegal immigrants accused of a crime to federal authorities, the Immigrant Rights Commission passed a resolution urging Gavin to do no such thing. Instead of handing over those accused of a crime to the Feds which could lead to possible deportment, the commission said the city should keep them in the city and look into whether or not they're eligible for asylum instead and for the offenders to be put into community programs, programs like "arts and cultural affirmation activities." Also suggested, the occasional pillow fluffing.
