Judging by the carnage that showed up in the SFist Flickr Pool after yesterday's Bring Your Own Big Wheel event, San Francisco's other yearly Easter tradition was a sight to behold, full of elaborate homemade vehicles and plenty of spectacular wipeouts. We should warn you though, some of these photos probably aren't safe for folks who cringe at the thought of road rash.

Hey there, Andrew Sullivan! How was your Easter? Festive? Good. Anyway, we understand that you have some issues with San Francisco's annual Hunky Jesus Contest in Dolores Park. Rightfully so. It can be long and a bit tired, but it's also quite scandalous and always fun. Funny how that works. Anyway, we simply had to share some of these (NSFW) 2012 images featuring naughty Jesuses. After all, the annual event is all done in the name of satire and, more importantly, sexiness. We hope that there's no further ill will. In fact, we hope that one day you decide to visit the Bay Area. (When we don't poke fun at sacred deities, we make some damn fine food.)

In New York, the good lord might be blocking bike lanes, but here in San Francisco local photographer Austin Kamps snapped this photo of the Man apparently on a mission to clean up the city's stabbiest street corner. And it looks like he's taken to local custom and donned some denim as well. You know, it kind of makes sense he would turn up so close to the site of a spontaneous combustion.
Afternoon Palate Cleanser: Easter Terror
Who ever thought that a giant rabbit costume was something cute, and not horrifically frightening? For god's sake, actual rabbits are kind of scary, but these vintage Easter bunnies are truly a scary bunch, and we can not blame any of these children for their terror. In fact, we can only hope they were not permanently scarred. A few more below.

Spring Eggstravaganza Wants Children To Trip Out In The Park This Saturday
Easter, a popular holiday with both religious and secular types, is this Sunday, April 8th — in case you, like the rest of us who don't call their mothers often enough, were wondering when that was. To commemorate the yearly fertility ritual, SF Rec and Parks Department is throwing a psychedelic Alice In Wonderland-themed "Eggstravaganza" in Golden Gate Park.
Sing-Along 'Jesus Christ Superstar' To Be Greatest Sing-Along Ever!
Once upon a time way back in the late nineties, a light-smearing outfit called the Cubby Creatures would perform the entire score to Jesus Christ Superstar, Andrew Lloyd Weber's second best rock opera. Since the band broke up, there's been a lack of public venues in which you can sing selections from JCS while bombed off Sierra Nevada and pot. But now, thanks to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and Bad Flower Productions, you can once croon the tunes to Superstar. Thank God.
Beeper Easter Egg Hunt For Blind Kids
How cool is this? Midtown Terrace Park will hold an Easter egg hunt for children who are blind or visually impaired. Presented by the Blind Babies Foundation, plastic eggs contain beepers that emit high-pitched sounds the children can track. The eggs can then be exchanged for sweet treats.

Every type of Jesus came out for the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence's Hunky Jesus Contest. Everyone from naked Jesus to Sweet Baby Jesus competed in the annual ode to Christ's erotic side. (OK, the baby was not celebrating Jesus' sexy side, but the others sure were!)

Yesterday's contests didn't quite draw the crowds that they would have had it been a lovely spring day in Dolores Park. But the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence moved the show over to the Eureka Rec Center, and some very slutty Jesuses (not to mention some drag queens in some inventive Easter hats) battled it out as they do every year. Not many people have been quick on the upload from yesterday's gathering, but we'll supplement this gallery as more pics appear.

Easter's this weekend, and spring is in the air, which means lots of fun events -- something for everyone! Here are some highlights, via FuncheapSF.
On Sunday, all sorts of traditions will be going down. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will have their 31st Annual Easter event at Dolores Park, starting off with a kids' egg hunt at 11 a.m., followed by the popular Hunky Jesus and the Easter Bonnet Contests and lots of live entertainment from Noon to 4 p.m.
The unstoppable 10th Annual Bring Your Own Big Wheel Contest continues to roll this year at 4 p.m.
Afternoon Palate Cleanser: The Muppets Do "Stand By Me"
Just in time for Easter, a dark little video from the Jim Henson folks featuring one of the lesser known Muppet monsters, and a bunch of bunnies. All we can say is YES! [via Laughing Squid]
BYOBW: Bring Your Own Big Wheel Race (Photos)
Originally held on Lombard Street, the BYOBW (Bring Your Own Big Wheel) Race has since moved to the somewhat more (or less?) twisty terrain on Potrero Hill at Vermont and 20th streets. This weekend, daredevils came in droves with their own Big Wheel or fun-size riding device (e.g., an office chair) to plunge down one of San Francisco's steepest hills. Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence: San Francisco Bus Tour, 4/11
The Sisters of Perpetual (over 200 of them!) are all over town this weekend. Thank God. On Friday, the nuns had a 30th birthday party at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
The 4th Annual Bad Bunny Pub Hop
What better way to celebrate Good Friday than be getting good and smashed. And tonight's fourth annual Easter themed bar crawl, the Bad Bunny Bar Crawl, will do the trick. While you should try dressing up like a bunny, rabbit attire isn't required to have a festive night. What is required is a strong liver and a desire to start off the holiday weekend early.
