It finally happened. A Mythbusters experiment went awry at the Alameda County bomb range yesterday. Despite the usual number of safety measures you might expect from a reality TV crew with high insurance premiums, a "misfired" cannonball missed its intended target and ended up smashing through a home several blocks away in Dublin, punching holes through the front door, a wall and a minivan window on it's cartoonish path of destruction.

Guy Fieri to Open East Bay Restaurant
Noted Food Network star Guy Fieri (née Guy Ferry) plans on opening a fourth branch of Johnny Garlic's restaurant chain in the Bay Area. This one will crash land in Dublin in early 2011. Yep. Brace yourselves, Dubliners. [Contra Costa Times, via Inside Scoop]
Amber Alert: Dublin, CA
An Amber Alert just broke in on the talking picture box. A presumably unfit father who "has a known drug history and is known to frequent the Oakland area" took off with his son today, claiming that he was taking him to McDonald's, but never returned. According to ABC 7, "Harold Bennett left his home with his child Justin Nottingham...Bennett is about 5'9, 245 pounds, has brown eyes and a bald haircut. Justin Nottingham is 5-years-old. He has blond hair and blue eyes and weights 48 pounds." He is all;egedly driving a blue 4-door 2004 Honda Civic, with a California license plate #5TIC261. (And with that, we now must to head to McDonald's for their new southern chicken sandwich food product. Curse them and their delicious buttery bun technology!)
America's Most Wanted Nabs Fugitive Rapist Doc Tony Shiu
Dublin general practitioner Dr. Tony Shiu -- who was accused of photographing and molesting his patients while they were under anesthesia -- was arrested yesterday. Shiu had been living in Taiwan ever since he hightailed it out of the state after two male patients came forward saying that he raped them while they were konked out. SJ Merc reports:
