Sassy Guy in Elmo Shirt Goes Off on KRON's 'Lazy, Fatass' Stanley Roberts

Sing-song voiced Stanley Roberts met his match recently during a segment for KRON 4's addictive People Behaving Badly. Filming law enforcement ticketing titularly bad drivers, one sassy law breaker sporting an Elmo t-shirt goes off on Roberts, calling him a "fat, lazy, non-relevant, non-factor ass." Among other things. He also threatens to break the camera and suggests "1-800-GET-THIN, cubby butt." more ›

Today In Absurd Budget Problem Solutions: Electronic Ads on License Plates

The State Assembly is considering a measure to begin researching the technology and implementation of electronic license plates statewide, a move that hopes to help close the $19 billion budget gap we're currently facing. A similar trip was taken by first-wave feminist Alice Ramsay a hundred years ago, making her the first woman ever to drive across the country. The re-enactment required Anderson and her car buff father to assemble a Maxwell using antique parts found on eBay and elsewhere, as only one intact 1909 Maxwell still existed and the owner was not willing to sell. more ›

Breaking: Muni Drivers Sabatoge Everything

Breaking: Muni Drivers Sabatoge Everything

There's a fun editorial in today's Examiner. It involves the "mysterious driver malady" that affects Muni drivers on Mondays and Fridays. According to the article, "On May 1, a Friday, nearly 22 percent of Muni’s 1,632 scheduled operators were “unavailable” -- 132 called in sick, but no less than 112 just failed to report for their shifts. They were marked down as taking 'unplanned leave,' a catchall category that also includes claimed injuries, suspensions or getting sick during a run." But wait, it gets better. The items goes on to say that "t[t]he AWOL rate was even higher the following Monday, May 4, when 113 drivers didn’t arrive to start their routes." And best of all, there's little to no consequences for no-show drivers. Muni spokesperosn Judson True, however, claims that the truancies are "being steadily reduce." In better news, Muni might finally get rid of redundant stops, thus improving your transit times. So, you know, there's that. more ›

When Privileged White People Attack

Shot near the Ferry Building during a non-critical mass afternoon, we're not sure who we hate more: the cyclist, the (alleged) motorist, the onlookers egging the whole thing on? Let's just call it a draw. more ›
