Because we've started the column "Who's Attacking Newsom Now!", we figure it's only right to start the counterpoint column next: Who's Defending Newsom Now!. So who's Mayor McDreamy got on his side? (beside these young ladies in the picture above, that is!): --Ken Garcia!: The Examiner columnist looks for the silver lining (.pdf, page 5) on the gloomy month that Newsom's been having. Ed Jew'll vote with Gavin on the Board of Supervisors (even......

We had so much fun breaking down the RCV numbers in District 6, we thought we'd tackle District 4 next! Congratulations, Ed Jew! He wasn't even considered a factor when the Chron covered the race, and now he's the first person in SF RCV history to come from behind (2nd place) to win the election in overtime. So coming in after the election, the top four candidates were (in order): Ron Dudum, Ed Jew, Jaynry......

There's another district where a winning candidate has yet to be named and that's District 4. This race has been a little under the radar as it hasn't involved candidate's wives telling lobbying groups what they could do with themselves or sock puppets. Nevertheless, it's quite a humdinger as there are three candidates who are neck and neck and neck-- Ron Dudum, Ed Jew, and Jaynry Mak are within just a few percentage points of each other (Dudum has 27 percent, Jew has 25 percent, and Mak has 22 percent). Doug Chan, Gavin's guy, has only 16 points so unless he gets a lot of #2 picks, he's probably out of it and will get eliminated as they move more into the ranked choice tallies. Hey, this whole thing is kind of like in English Premiere League soccer where the losing candidates get relegated. ...

SFist Jon's DSL is still screwed up; you're stuck with us and our insistance on using two dashes instead of one to start off our entries. --SFMike from SF Civic Center had a keee-razee day pollwatching on Tuesday. Ha! You gotta read this one. --People voted in cool places. We totally want to move to the precinct that votes at the puppy adoption center. --Cindy Sheehan gets arrested again in DC. --Alix Rosenthal says she......

There's lots to be said about this election (we won the House!), and lots to be learned about local politics (YouTube -- the wave of the future), and that's for political scientists that are sharper than us to figure out -- but the one totally obvious point that this election's highlighted is that Gavin Newsom can't get his friends elected. Take Doug Chan in District 4, for example. Newsom was the conservative (for SF) Police......

Monday is our favorite day to do laundry, thus we are thrilled by the possibility of satisfying our dire needs for both clean socks and weird live music at once at the Brainwash Café (1122 Folsom St. @ 7th). The Jardin Noir Dark Circus Radio Project blends psychedelic jazz improv and world music with strange and compelling results for free. (7-10pm) We instantly got a craving for pancakes when reading about this one: CalHOP......

Only five more weeks to go until the District 6 election! This week's episode: Everybody Hates An Endorsement. Looks like it's not just Lou Seal giving the flippers-up for District 6 candidate Rob Black! Rob just lined up the first big endorsement of the race, splashed on the front page of Monday's Examiner. Unfortunately, the Examiner doesn't seem to have made its endorsements accessible on its webpage, but we've thoughtfully saved it as a......

Well, look who's in imminent danger of violating the curfew for the kids under 13! Here's a picture of Gavin Newsom cutting a rug at District 4 candidate Doug Chan's kickoff event, first located by -- you got it -- commenter ThatChick! Okay, here's the informative section: Doug Chan's running against Fiona Ma's aide Jaynry Mak for the District 4 seat (Fiona seems to be hedging her bets and has endorsed both of them.)......
