The silence, as it were, will be deafening tonight at Shoreline Amphitheatre after Depeche Mode's abrupt cancellation of their show due to Dave Gahan's exhausted vocal chords. As some small consolation to those fans currently crying into their lunchboxes, we give you this: the slightly pixelated, probably VHS-transferred, official video for "Enjoy the Silence" off 1990's Violator. Ah, how we long for the days when the boys were so young, well-rested, and svelte.

Depeche Mode Cancels Tonight's Shoreline Show Due to Illness

Times seem to be tough for aging rockstars scheduled to play in the Bay Area this summer. Depeche Mode has had to cancel tonight's show at Shoreline Amphitheatre because of doctor's orders that David Gahan rest his vocal chords for 48 hours. The show will not be rescheduled and tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase. (Bummer for those who might have bought tickets second-hand though.)

Gearing up for the big New Year's Eve bash, several artists are playing mini-residencies (two or three night stays) this weekend including: Cracker, The Radiators and ALO. If you schedule correctly, you could probably see everything that you want. Though New Year's Eve has some rocking concerts, we are going to cover those shows later in the week.

Judging by the audiences' volatile reactions, She Wants Revenge did everything in their power to give the audience what they wanted: a spectacle (with some music). About half-way through their hour and a half set, a fight erupted. (This isn't the first time, we hear, that fights have started at one of their shows.)
