According to Bay City News, Caltrain service in both the Southbound and Northbound directions was halted just after 10 a.m. this morning after a train struck and killed a woman on the tracks near Broadway Station in Burlingame. The rider-updated Caltrain twitter feed reports that trains were moving again at slow speed just before 11 a.m, but those folks heading up the peninsula for today's 12:45 p.m Giants game should be advised that the system is still experiencing delays.
Caltrain Service Delayed After Incident in Burlingame
Expect BART Delays Through Transbay Tube Sunday and Monday, This Week and Next
BART announced in a rather confusing manner that there will be delays through the Transbay Tube this weekend and next. What it boils down to is that passengers traveling between San Francisco/Peninsula and the East Bay can expect 20-40 minute delays between the 24-hour period of 2:30 p.m. Sunday through 2:30 p.m. Monday, this weekend and next.
Metro Muni Delay Affecting All Lines
KRON 4 Morning News reports that Muni is having major delays throughout the city on all metro lines. What's the cause of the problem? Not sure yet. However, commuters are reporting delays of up to 30 minutes. We'll update as soon as we know more. Until then, so sorry, Muni commuters. More Muni Underground Delays
A fuming Jay Barmann sends us this message, "Running an errand downtown and once again Muni underground is having 'technical difficulties' that are causing major congestion inbound." Which, oddly enough, happened the same time last week. Expect 5 - 10 minute delays in each station.
Muni Supends Outbound Train Service
Service is suspended this morning on all Muni outbound trains (according to KRON) from Embarcadero to West Portal "due to a mechanical problem." Shuttle buses are running instead. Update: KCBS reports, "MUNI METRO: Outbound service remains suspended due to severed cable. Bus shuttles are running btwn Embarcadero and W. Portal. (9:07am)" Muni says it will be "a couple of hours" before they can make repairs. Sorry, folks.
Breakdowns Prompt Hour-Long Caltrain Delays
After a series of breakdowns, SFGate reports that Caltrian is experiencing delays of up to an hour this morning. "The latest problem happened at 7:50 a.m. when southbound train No. 314 broke down at the San Mateo station, SFGate reports. "All the passengers had to get off, and for the next 40 minutes trains were single-tracked on the northbound track through Burlingame and San Carlos." Sluggish times are expected to last throughout the morning.
UPDATE: Reopening of Bay Bridge OPEN! Delayed at Least One Day

Muni Experiencing Delays
Might want to rev up the Lexus or Prius today, readers. According to Appeal, the J, K/T, L, M and N lines are all "'experiencing rolling delays in the subway because of a problem with the train control system.'" That is to say, trains are currently operating in manual mode. (Oh oh.) So, you know, please check with NextMuni before hopping on a train.
SFPD Pursuit Leads to AM Bart Delays
According to first word on the scene, this morning’s BART delays were due to an underground pursuit. It seems police officers chasing a suspect on the tracks between the 16th street and Civic Center stations lead to system-wide delays. Nail-biting! Power on the tracks were shutdown temporarily to let the fuzz safely run after the rapscallions. No word yet as to why the chase was all about. SFAppeal goes on to report that "as of 7:45, service had resumed, but BART anticipates delays in excess of 20 minutes for lines that pass through the Mission-Civic Center set of stops."
