Is it too much to ask that NextBus cope with the daylight savings time-change? Our wristwatch can figure it out, but apparently it's simply too much for NextBus to comprehend. So on Saturday night, there was a complete blackout of arrival predictions; not just for San Francisco, but for all NextBus clients in the US and Canada. Luckily, you could still get scheduled arrival times by calling 311.

What an ambient summer week it's been and it's very likely to continue through the weekend. In fact, turkey wings crossed it will extend clear through the Thanksgiving weekend food coma. What do we owe this warm air, absence of damp Pacific winds and non-chilly evenings to? A giant high (pressure that is) holding court over the massive expanse of the Great Basin Desert (aka Nevada) which is pushing warm inland air over the western North American continent clear out into the Pacific Ocean. This high is expected to stay, getting reinforcement from a smaller high moving west from the Rockies.

Quick quiz what's a high of 69 and a low of 54. Who knows it? Who does? Yep, you're right. That's the SF temperature range for the next couple months. Fortunately the direct sun will assure us splendid days still yet to come, even though some low pressure bands will make for slippery BART stairs, steamed up bus windows, and drivers performing like elderly Floridians. Yep, there's no fighting it any longer ... we're smack dab in the middle of the fall.

On Friday Noise Pop presented a matinee show with Ringside, Von Iva and Robbers on High Street at Cafe Du Nord. It's quite strange to head to a rock show at a time of day that's more appropriate for happy hour, but having the evening wrap up by 9pm was a bit of a treat. It leaves you feeling like you have extra time on your hands, Daylight Savings Time-style.
