We've said this before, but one of our favorite radio bits on local radio is KFOG's Hits From Hell which Dave Morey busts out every Friday the 13th. Hey, you can only hear Melissa Etheridge so many times. Unfortunately, we got stuck doing other things today, but thanks to the handy-dandy KFOG web site, we got the listing of today's show, only to see that it was the opposite of Hits From Hell, more like "Lucky Hits." Gosh darnit-- we were totally dying for some "We Are the World" or "You Light Up My Life." ...

Dick and George may have thought they were getting off scott-free a few weeks ago when Sean Elsbrend decide to move Chris Daly's impeachment measure to the rules committee, but they were wrong. Oh so wrong. Because yesterday, your San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted by a 7-3 measure to impeach Bush AND Cheney. For those keeping score at home, that would mean your new President would be Dennis Hastert. Said Daly during the vote, "I think the case (for impeachment) is clear, and I think it's appropriate for us to weigh in." Back before the Wonderful World of the iPod (B.I.) when we used to listen to the radio, one of our favorite things was listening to KFOG's 10 at 10 on Friday the 13th. And we didn't even listen to KFOG (yes, Virginia, we listened to Live 105). We did, however, love listening to the 10 at 10 on Friday the 13th because on that day, they'd break from tradition and play "Hits from Hell." What are "Hits from Hell" you might be asking? Well things like "You Light Up My Life." Or the god-awful "We Built This City" or "We Are the World." It's nothing but pure, unadulterated crap music and there's nothing our cheese-loving, ironic-hipster-posing-hearts love more than crap music played for the sheer hell of it being crappy. Plus, it's one full hour in which KFOG won't play Bonnie Raitt, Coldplay or John Mayer. ...

If you find yourself stuck in traffic, sipping your Starbucks café late, and listening to the mellow sounds of Dave Morey only to hear of R. Kelly's "Trapped In A Closet" (all twelve chapters) instead, it's because the company that owns KFOG, Susquehanna Pfatzgraff Co., just sold the station to another radio conglomerate, Cumulus Media. Other stations included in the sale are KNBR and 107.7 The Bone. Susquehanna had been trying to sell their media holdings for awhile now as the company’s main business, pottery, has become a victim of globalization. Guess the synergy between kitchenware and radio wasn't all that it was cracked out to be. The deal is worth $1.2 billion dollars. ...
