Dave Chappelle, who apparently has completely forgone scheduling anything more than a week in advance at this point, has just announced four shows at The Independent on Divisadero next Tuesday and Wednesday (an early and late show each night). Tickets are $55 apiece and go on sale today at 3 p.m. (Right now!) Better snatch 'em up quick or run down to the box office on Divisadero if you want to snag a spot at the late shows, which have a history of going well in to the wee hours.
Dave Chappelle Pops Up Again, Doing Six Shows At The Independent Next Week
Dave Chapelle Gives First Interview in Five Years to 94.9FM, Says Why He Loves the Bay Area
Dave Chapelle gave his first interview in five years last week to morning radio hosts Rico, JV, and Selena on Wild 94.9 here in S.F. (This was just before he awkwardly got on stage for a few minutes during Big Boi's aborted set at Outside Lands.) He talks about some of the weird on-stage behavior he's been criticized for in recent months, like a July show at the Seminole Indian-owned Hard Rock Casino in Florida where he spent about 46 minutes of his set in awkward silence and allegedly insulted some Seminole Indians in the front row. He claims they were heckling him and holding camera phones up at him the entire time.
Just Announced: Dave Chappelle at Yoshi's Oakland This Sunday

Tonight at Cobbs: Dave Chappelle Keeps on Tickin'
A friend of SFist spotted a pretty haggard-looking Dave Chappelle in the FiDi last week sporting bloodshot eyes that screamed, "Don't you dare talk to me." Hopefully Chappelle got his rest over the weekend because Cobb's just announced that he's playing yet another couple of impromptu shows tonight at 8 and 10:30 p.m.
Two More Dave Chappelle Shows Announced for Tonight at the Independent
As he's been doing a lot lately, Dave Chappelle, the comedic genius behind every buzzphrase you hated so much by the end of 2006, has just announced two more last-minute shows tonight at The Independent. An early show at 8 p.m. and a late show at 11. Tickets are 55 bucks and go on sale at Noon (like now-ish). From the SFist Western Branch office on Divisadero we can see there's currently a modest, three-person line scratch that - there are at least 15 people lined up at the Independent box office, so if you're chained to your desk you might try the Independent's website.
Tickets On Sale For Impromptu Dave Chappelle At Cobbs On Monday Night
Luckily for the Bay Area, Dave Chappelle loves to hang out here for prolonged periods of time and ends up performing impromptu shows while he's here. After performing two sets of sold-out, last-minute gigs at Cobb's on Thursday and Friday after his stellar night with Lauryn Hill at The New Parish last Wednesday, he's back for another round tomorrow night. As of this posting, tickets are still available for both the 8 and 10:30 p.m. shows at $55 a pop, plus a $12.10 convenience fee.
Lauryn Hill and Dave Chappelle's Surprise Oakland Show, A Recap
So, news went out via Twitter yesterday around 5 p.m. that Lauryn Hill and Dave Chappelle were going to do an impromptu surprise show at The New Parish in Oakland, after Lauryn's gig at the Warfield last night. The thing was thrown together, $90 tickets went on sale, with $140 for VIP, and the shit sold out pretty quick. Chappelle, as you may remember, has popped up a bunch around here recently (we think he has a home here) and has done a couple of shows at the small downtown Oakland venue. Also, he's been friends with Hill for a while, and arranged a Fugees reunion for his 2006 concert film Block Party.
Tickets On Sale For Last-Minute Dave Chappelle Performances Tomorrow Night At Cobb's
Cobb's Comedy Club just announced a couple of last-minute Dave Chappelle performances for tomorrow night. (He's also there tonight, but the shows sold out fast.)
Waitlist for Dave Chappelle Oakland Show Still Open
Just as soon as it was announced, Dave Chappelle's two shows tonight at The New Parish in Oakland sold out. Alas. However, if you want to get on the waitlist for the 11pm show, get on it now.
Woman Tells Off Dave Chappelle, He Responds By Calling Her "Titties" "Real"
Oh dear. From the editor's inxbox comes this heated missive over today's 'Photo du Jour' featuring gifted comedian Dave Chappelle. Black Betty writes:
Dave Chappelle, Bygone CompUSA Spotted On Market Street
An SFist reader spotted comedian Dave Chappelle walking on Market Street the other day, interrupted his privacy, and snapped up the photo at left. (Thanks, Flickr user 3dollarbilly!) What he also caught was the now dead CompUSA store haunting and taunting us in the background.
Chappelle Sightings Continue
We had just finished reading Steven Winn, Chronicle Arts and Culture Critic's (why do we feel compelled to go "well, lah dee dah" when we see that title?) decidedly mixed review of Dave Chapelle's show Monday at the Punch Line, when we got a follow-up to yesterday's Dave Chappelle piece from hott and sexxy SFist Tipster Katie:
It's Chappelle's Show, We Just Live In It
Big fat SFist thanks to Tammy, who emailed us this tidbit:
We Read The Weeklies
Last week's winner, the San Jose Metro: Gary Singh does his best Travis Bickel to help out a friend getting blackmailed for her journal. Cover article: Blogs! Will they change politics? (no.) An experimental Canadian thriller, a documentary about Israel and Palestine: it's Cinequest time. Greek food in Santa Clara -- we were taken by the title, "Your Pal Is Athena." And BET Uncut -- the educational TV program! ("Once an acoustic guitar gets to strumming, a half-naked multicultural boat party will break out." So true!)
Where's Chris Tucker? Only the Gavster Knows
So if you tuned into KRON this morning to catch Phil Matier (and really, who doesn't love that moustache?), you might have noticed that he was a bit cranky, since a certain be-gelled guest was late arriving. Turns out that it's because, unlike us plebes who were never Paris Hilton's BFF, Gavin was tipped about Dave Chappelle sweeping into town by his homeboy (seriously, he described him as "my good friend") Chris Tucker and was up late laughing at 'the funny.' Sorry, Phil, but Gavin doesn't cut his morning skincare routine short for the likes of you.
Wednesday: The New Thursday
