Puppies and Homer collide in this downright adorable Cliff Notes version of a Greek classic.

This coming Sunday, a group of American football players called the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals will come together to have a sporting match entitled Superbowl XLIII. If you will allow SFist to jinx the odds this year, our money is on the team with the friendliest players who know that there is no "i" in "team."

The American Apparel thread. Bart rage. Abortion. Amateur food critics. Everybody seems so angry lately. Gosh. Blame it on the holiday comedown. Blame it on the return of winter's chill. Blame it on misplaced, self-righteous anger now that Obama is in office. Whatever it is, SFist would like to help ease your tension, so we present to you a baby giraffe from the SF Zoo.

The much-loved and much-missed Shiba Inu Puppy Cam -- which, at the risk of missing a moment to brag, SFist was the first to report onback in October -- came in at number three in People Pets' Top Ten Pet Moments of 2008.

Good news! One, we images of baby gorilla boy, who is still unnamed, that will have you squee-ing until Monday. (Really, a little baby gorilla with a stuffed gorilla is quite impressive. The above shot alone could resurrect Dian Fossey.) Two, the baby and his surrogate mother are "adapting" to each other.

But in an odd twist, the Shiba Inu Dude Cam is also highly erotic, highly charged. The atmosphere is very MacBeth-ish: what has, or is about to, happen?

SFist has known about the insanely adorable Shiba Inu Puppy Cam since early October, but now the world has caught up. People magazine interviewed the six precious pups' owners, who say, "We've received a number of emails from people who are in hospitals battling various diseases who have told us that they look to the Shiba Inu Puppy Cam as a way to liven up their spirits." Aw! And Ustream.TV CEO John Ham, who was surprised by the puppy cam's popularity, has the puppy cam playing on a widescreen TV at the office, "The number one thing internally we've come to is that they're cute." And the puppies' owners, who wish to remain anonymous, want to remind people that all puppies are cute--if you're getting one, "Do your research...to make sure that it is the right fit for your lifestyle and personality. Remember, this is a commitment for life so don't take these steps lightly." Hear that, Malia and Sasha?
